Weekend adventures with Skye and her doggie friends! 🐾☀️

This weekend’s cani-trek was all about taking it slow, enjoying the journey, and making the most of the great outdoors. With the warmer weather here, the dogs set a steady pace, stopping to sniff, explore, and enjoy every moment along the trail.

The highlight of the day? A refreshing dip in the pond! 💦 Skye and her friends couldn’t wait to cool off before continuing their adventure with wagging tails and happy smiles.

When trekking with dogs in warmer weather, it’s important to put their safety first. We chose a shaded route, carried plenty of fresh water, took regular breaks, and kept a close eye on the dogs for any signs they were getting too warm. Early morning or evening walks are often the best option during hot spells, and remember that pavements and hard surfaces can become much hotter than the air temperature.

Cani-trekking isn’t about speed—it’s about spending quality time with our dogs, building fitness together, and enjoying nature at their pace. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones where you slow down, take in the scenery, and find a pond along the way for a splash and a cool down.

How are you and your dogs staying cool this summer? 🐕❤️

What a great run with our Sunday group!

GRWM for Canicross Club Run 🐕🏃‍♀️✨

Here’s how I layer up before heading out with the club — because canicross comfort starts before you even clip your dog in.

🤍 Base layer: My white layer — perfect for summer running with SPF 50+ protection. Light, breathable, and ideal when the days are warm but you still want coverage.

💙 Club shirt: Next comes our bright blue running top. I love putting this on because it instantly feels like stepping into team mode. Same colour, same purpose, same support out on the trails.

🖤 Warm-up jacket: My canicross jacket goes on next. I absolutely love the quality — the sleeve details, the clever pockets, and that cosy-but-practical feel while we get moving.

🩵 Final piece — the belt: The canicross belt is always the finishing touch. Bright aqua with pink carabiners and metal details that make it feel as good as it looks. Functional and fabulous.

Layered, ready, and excited to run with my dog and my people 💛
Because canicross isn’t just a sport — it’s a whole routine, a whole community, and honestly one of the best parts of my week.

Hills day with my canicross beginners today 🐕🏃‍♀️

Hills can feel intimidating at first — but they’re actually where teamwork really happens.

⬆️ Uphill: short steps, steady rhythm, encourage your dog to pull and work with them. Power-hiking is always allowed!

⬇️ Downhill: slow before the hill, use your “back” command, keep light quick feet, and stay in control together.

Today wasn’t about speed — it was about confidence, communication, and building stronger dog-and-runner partnerships 💛

Every hill climbed is progress for both ends of the lead.

This morning felt like freedom 🐾☀️

A family run with Daisy and Skye — kids laughing, dogs running, and that feeling of everyone just being outside together with no rush and nowhere else to be.

There’s something so special about watching children move freely, dogs exploring safely, and just soaking up those simple moments that make life feel full.

For me, it was even more meaningful. After dealing with plantar fasciitis, getting back into running for me has been a slow journey — so this wasn’t just a run, it was a reminder of progress, patience, and rebuilding strength.

Not fast. Not perfect.
Just joy, movement, and being together 💛

More of this please.

A huge WELL DONE to our brand new beginners canicross group this week 🐾🏃‍♀️

Dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and personalities — and humans brave enough to try something new alongside them.

Starting canicross can feel daunting.
New equipment.
New skills.
Very excited dogs 😅

But every single team showed up, gave it a go, and took that first step together — and that’s what matters most.

This is where the journey begins: building confidence, learning teamwork, and discovering just how much fun running with your dog can be.

I’m so excited to watch you all grow over the coming weeks 💛

Welcome to the canicross community — you’re going to love it here.

Canicross isn’t just about running 🐾🏃‍♀️

One of the biggest game changers for staying injury-free and running stronger with your dog?
👉 Strength training.

When we run canicross, we’re dealing with pulling forces, uneven terrain, changes of pace, and a moving partner at the end of the line. Strength work helps you:

✔️ Improve stability and balance
✔️ Protect knees, hips, and lower back
✔️ Handle pulling power safely
✔️ Run more efficiently with your dog
✔️ Reduce injury risk (for both training and racing)

Even 15–20 minutes of strength work a few times a week makes a huge difference — think core, glutes, legs, and single-leg stability.

And small gear wins help too 🙌

I’ve been training in my shorts kindly gifted by Trail Breeze, and they’ve quickly become a favourite for workouts and strength sessions.

✨ Lightweight
✨ Comfortable for movement
✨ Stay put during squats, lunges, and drills
✨ Perfect for active dog life

Strong runner = confident dog = better teamwork 💛

Do you include strength training in your canicross routine?

If you’re hot… they’re hotter 🐾☀️

Dogs don’t sweat like we do.
They wear a fur coat.
They rely on us to make good decisions for them.

In warm weather, welfare comes first — especially for active dogs who love to run, train, and explore.

That means:
💧 Adjusting exercise times
🌳 Seeking shade
🐢 Slowing the pace
❄️ Using cooling jackets to help regulate body temperature

My dogs are wearing their cooling jackets from Non-stop dogwear because they’re designed for movement, performance, and real temperature support — not just looking good.

Responsible dog ownership isn’t about pushing through the heat.
It’s about protecting the dog who would run forever just to stay with you.

Because if we’re hot… they’re hotter 💛

The finish line moments never get old 🐾🏁

Tired legs.
Happy dogs.
Huge smiles.

Every finish line tells a story — courage, teamwork, early mornings, muddy miles, and the decision to just show up and try.

Some ran their first race.
Some pushed past doubts.
All crossed that line as a team with their dogs by their side.

So incredibly proud of every single runner today 💛

Because canicross isn’t just about finishing fast… it’s about finishing together.
