☀️ just some information you may not know☀️
It’s completely understandable to think that clipping your dog short will help keep them cooler, but for many breeds, that’s actually not the best option.
Double-coated breeds have a coat that acts as natural insulation. It helps keep them warm in winter and protects them from the heat in summer by regulating their body temperature and shielding their skin from the sun.
For many of these breeds, a thorough undercoat de-shed or hand strip (where appropriate) is a much safer and healthier option than clipping the coat off. Removing the loose, dead coat allows air to circulate while leaving the protective coat intact.
Every dog is different, and the right grooming approach depends on their breed, coat type, age, health and lifestyle. My priority is always your dog’s comfort, wellbeing and coat health, so I’ll always recommend what’s best for them rather than simply taking the coat short.
Let’s help keep our dogs cool, comfortable and protected this summer. 🐾💛
