A big congratulations to eleven-year-old Benji, our Golden Pet of the Month!

Owner Charlotte says that Benji has always acted like a little old man even as a pup. She said, “Benji is literally an old man; he loves to sleep, a slow country walk and a cuddle. He’s my soul dog!”

Benji earned his Golden Pet crown after Charlotte entered our competition via an email we sent at the start of his birthday month. If your cat or dog is over seven and has a birthday coming up, they could win a Pets at Home goody bag and be our next Golden Pet of the Month too! Say hello to little Bear in his big Bertie bear bed from Pets at Home Liverpool Edge Lane. 🐻

Eleven-week-old Bear has only been home a couple of weeks, but owner Jennifer says he’s already taken over their home and their hearts. She said, “As soon as I saw the bed on Pets UK’s Instagram, I knew he needed to have it. I love everything bear themed for him. It’s a lovely bed, so cosy and soft; he loves curling up in a ball inside of it and getting snuggled right in.”

‘Lovable goofball’ Buck needed a little lie down after all the excitement of shopping at Pets at Home Norwich.

Five-month-old Buck visited our pet care centre with owner Libby to pick up a new food bowl. After helping choose some new toys from his favourite spot - dog toy aisle - Buck decided he needed a rest while his owners browsed for rabbit supplies.

Libby said, “Buck is a very loving goofball. Once we’d picked up all of his bits, he lay down whilst we were trying to buy some stuff for our rabbit – clearly not too pleased about leaving his favourite aisle! Buck absolutely loves a trip to Pets at Home. As soon as the doors open, there’s no stopping him from exploring the shop.”

Before joining the team at Vets for Pets Falmouth Vet Trish spent years rescuing marine mammals and sea turtles around the world, but the pull of the Falmouth community was too strong to resist.

Trish spent seven years working in Spain, Mexico, and the Galápagos Islands, caring for sea creatures as a marine mammal vet and rescue diver. Now, she’s swapped wetsuits for wellies and is loving life helping the pets of Cornwall.

Trish said, “Since the age of eight, I’ve wanted to be an advocate for those who don’t have a voice. That’s what led me to train as a marine mammal vet and rescue diver. I always thought I’d be a perpetual traveller, but after a few stints at Vets for Pets Falmouth, I couldn’t stop thinking about Cornwall. It feels so wild and peaceful—and the community is just lovely. It’s really special.”

Billy has been learning all about responsible pet ownership at Pets at Home 🐾

Mum Katy booked four-year-old Billy into a My Pet Pals workshops at our Cortonwood pet care centre as a free summer activity. These fun workshops explore the five animal welfare needs, helping kids learn how to care for a variety of pets, dive into exciting activities, and meet our store pets.

Katy, who shares her family adventures as on Instagram, said: “I wasn't sure if Billy would be too young for it but the lady who worked with it engaged with him really well. He said he liked meeting the guinea pigs and feeding the fish. He even wanted to name the guinea pig Billy!

Owner Mercedes says that it was “love at first bite” for nine-week-old Millie and her new best friend, Bertie Bear.

During last week’s heatwave, Mercedes popped into Pets at Home Hedge to pick up a puppy pool and cooling mat when she spotted the Bertie Bear flattie. Since bringing him home, he has blossomed into Millie’s favourite companion.

Mercedes said, “We just knew that we had to have Bertie! When we brought him home, Millie’s tail was wagging and it was love at first bite. She sinks her teeth into his soft bear face and gets so excited by the little squeak. Then she playfully shakes the crinkly part and proudly runs around the living room with him. She even takes him in the car with her and snuggles her face into him. They’re the best of friends.”

Parent’s are loving the free My Pet Pals workshops at Pets at Home this summer!

Mum Samantha, who shares her parenting tips as on Instagram, brought her son Harrison to a workshop and said he loved feeding the fish.

Meanwhile, six-year-old Luna visited our Washington pet care centre with mum Emma, who posted on : “The Pets at Home advisor we had was so lovely, it was a small group but she was so lovely with the kids explained a lot and was really friendly. We learned all about guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, bugs & fish. Totally recommend it. We have done it a few times now and it’s really worth it!”

Meet Albert 🐰💚

⭐️Albert has slight respiratory problems so will need special care and require low dust bedding and low dust hay
⭐️He may have ongoing vet bills in the future
⭐️Rabbits are complex animals that require a lot of space
⭐️Albert is quite a confident boy when roaming around but is still quite nervous of being stroked
⭐️would be nice for him to be neutered and bonded with a friend (a neutering voucher will be provided)

Please either call or pop into our Loughton store to speak to a colleague about him

⭐️He is very skittish and gets frightened by sudden movement so would ideally suit a home with no or older calmer children
⭐️With time he could make such a lovely pet just needs someone to take it slow and show him humans can be great

⭐️ Rodney is around 4 years old and is neutered
⭐️rabbits are complex animals that require a lot of space
⭐️He is extremely nervous so will need someone with a lot of time and patience to help build up his confidence
⭐️ was previously bonded with another rabbit who unfortunately passed away, would be nice for him to be bonded again with another friend
⭐️he is very skittish and gets frightened by sudden movement so would ideally suit a home with no or older calmer children
⭐️with time he could make such a lovely pet just needs someone to take it slow and show him humans can be great

Lovely Timmy is still looking for his forever home could it be you? 🐰💚

⭐️he is a special rabbit and will require care in his forever home
⭐️he loves to hop and explore so will need plenty of space, he gets very stressed in small spaces so ideally a free roam area in the house bunny proofed for him would be perfect
⭐️he has already started to use his litter tray in the store
⭐️he loves a stroke, he is a single rabbit so would really benefit from being a house rabbit around his humans for interaction
⭐️ will need to be neutered ( a voucher will be provided for this)
⭐️ fresh hay daily for him to graze on

Meet Cindy our golden oldie looking for her retirement home ❤️

⭐️ She is around 2 years old we believe but still has a lot of spirit
⭐️ Hamsters are nocturnal so she loves her beauty sleep
⭐️She loves to forage, explore and run on her wheel at night so will need lots of space
⭐️She is easily handled if you are confident

Meet Eddie our young male gerbil looking for his forever home

⭐️Gerbils are sociable animals so he will need to be bonded to at least 1 other male gerbil
⭐️Bonding gerbils can be extremely hard so this will need to be researched prior to taking
him
⭐️Eddie is very energetic and will need lots of enrichment in his forever home, a nice big wheel, sand bath and plenty of room to dig

Meet Harry and Ron our lovely pair of male guinea pigs

⭐️Must go as a pair
⭐️Harry and Ron are a little nervous and still quite young so will need to be slowly introduced to new things to help gain their confidence
⭐️Can live indoors or outdoors, they will need a run attached to their enclosure at all time that they can access day and night so they have plenty of space 🏠
⭐️They need access to fresh hay daily
⭐️ They will also need to be given fresh veg daily🥦🥬🌿

Meet Lily the female gerbil looking for her furever home ❤️

⭐️Lily’s forever home will need to have at least 1 female gerbil to bond her with as they are sociable animals (bonding will need to be researched prior to taking her)
⭐️She would be best suited to somebody with experience with bonding gerbils as this can be difficult
⭐️will need opportunity to dig and burrow and plenty of enrichment while waiting to be bonded with her forever friend/s

Meet Timmy the male rabbit who needs plenty of space in his furever home

⭐️ Timmy needs a special home may require care in the future (please ask for more details)
⭐️He would really benefit from having a large free roam space in the house (bunny proofed🐰)around his humans as he is very sociable and gets stressed in small places
⭐️ He is a very friendly boy and loves a fuss but does not like to be picked up
⭐️He will need to be neutered when he is settled (a voucher will be provided for this)
