🌟 Big News: We’ve Been Nominated!

I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to share that Auntie Beth’s Pets has been officially nominated for the Animal Star Awards 2026 in the Southwest region!

This nomination means the world to me. 🌧️ Rain, Slugs, and Staying Safe: A Quick Note for the Pack!

With all the recent rain, our gardens and walking spots are hotspots for slugs and snails! 🐌 During a walk with one of my gorgeous clients, I discovered just how easily they can hitch a ride on a coat or land on toys, which makes it the perfect time for a reminder about lungworm awareness.

Here is what you need to know to keep our puppers safe:

How it spreads:

Lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) larvae are carried by slugs and snails. If a dog accidentally (or intentionally) eats one, or if they ingest its contaminated slime— found on outdoor toys, water bowls, or grass—the larvae can enter your dog's system.

The risk of grooming:

If a dog tries to lick a slug off their coat, there is a very real possibility of them ingesting the parasite larvae in the process.

Check those coats:

After a wet walk, take a quick look over your dog’s coat to make sure no stowaway slugs have hitched a ride, and keep an eye on what they are picking up.

Proactive Prevention:

If you haven't already, please book an appointment with your vet to ensure your dog is on a lungworm-specific preventative treatment. Not all routine wormers cover lungworm, so it is essential to have your vet verify that your dog's current plan provides the necessary protection. They are the best resource for ensuring your pack stays safe and correctly treated.

When to contact your vet:

Keep a watchful eye for any changes in behaviour or health. Common signs to monitor include coughing, breathing difficulties, unusual bleeding (even from minor scratches), weight loss, or lethargy. If you notice anything unusual, it is always better to have them checked by your vet as a precaution because it can be life-threatening if this is not treated in time.

We all want our dogs to have the best adventures possible, and a little extra vigilance goes a long way!

🐾 Sunbeams, Sploots, and Sofa Snuggles!

What a wonderful way to end the week! After a long, rainy spell, it was so glorious to get out in the sunshine for some proper exploring today! 🥳🙌🏼

I spent the most lovely two hours with Milly this morning, and she truly knows how to make the most of her downtime. From a sunny stroll to perfecting her signature "sploot" on the carpet, she is just the definition of cozy! We finished our time together with plenty of sofa snuggles, which was exactly what we both needed! ❤️

It has also been such a fantastic day for the rest of the pack—Kitto is looking so much better with brighter eyes and he is starting to put on weight, and Ailla was absolutely loving every minute of our time together! ❤️

I am so grateful to have such wonderful dogs to look after. Every day spent with them is a reminder of why I love what I do! ❤️🐶

🎾 Treasure Hunt on the Green!

What started as a simple game of fetch on The Green quickly turned into an epic treasure hunt for the lovely Dennis! 🥳🙌🏼

The grass was long, which turned our game into a fun search-and-sniff mission to track down his ball. The funny part? There was a very stinky, mysterious scent on the left side of the green from the night before, so his lovely hooman had specifically instructed him to stay clear of it! I am so proud to say that Dennis was a complete gentleman and successfully stayed on the right side of the green the entire time—literally! 🥳🙌🏼

Watching him focus and use his nose to find his prize without breaking the rules was such a delight—he is such a clever (and very well-behaved) boy!🥰

Cornish mizzle did not stop us today! 🐾💨

We found the perfect gap in the weather for a very gentle leash walk with the gorgeous Milo! He absolutely smashed it, and it is so heart-warming to see him moving so well and having a good sniff! 🏔️🐕

Also had the best news from his lovely hooman today—Milo’s X-ray shows he is very healthy and the bone has healed nicely, with the veterinary advice to "keep doing what we are doing!" 🥳🙌🏼 he also mentioned that Milo was likely extra grateful for his walkies as he was a bit too sleepy to do much after his anesthetic yesterday. 💤💙

After that, we shifted into high-gear relaxation mode. There is honestly nothing better than when he comes over to tuck his head right into my legs for snuggles—it is the sweetest thing! ❤️🥰

So proud of your progress, Milo—you are such a superstar! 🌟

Hey, lovelies! 🥰

I am already starting to look ahead at the winter/festive period. 🎄

With November now fully reserved for overnight stays, and my calendar already opening for 2027, I am getting a clear picture of how the rest of the year and beyond is shaping up.

As always, I will be prioritising my regulars for any Christmas and New Year support to ensure everyone gets the dedicated care they are used to. However, I am also keeping in mind that I really believe dogs should be at home with their families for Christmas where possible.

I am currently gauging the demand from my gorgeous regulars first just to see if you think you might be heading away for some winter sun or need help with drop-ins while you are visiting family.

If so, please drop me a message and let me know your dates! I am just testing the temperature on the demand for now so I can plan my schedule to keep things manageable and professional for everyone if I do decide to open. 🐾

I love my business, I love my clients, and most of all, I love the incredible peace of mind I give to the families who trust me with their pets. But lately, I have had a few "cheeky" inquiries asking if I can bend my rules, slash my rates, or do cheap one-off favours.

So, I wanted to gently but firmly share a little reminder about how Auntie Beth’s Pets operates:

I do not do cut-price deals, and I do not compromise on my structure. 🩵

Here is why:

🛡️ Safety & Routine First: I do not just pop in and out for random, unassessed jobs. Every pet under my care gets the full premium standard, which requires assessments, booking in advance, and a dedicated routine.

💎 You Pay for Expertise: My rates do not just cover time. They cover a Triple Award Finalist, an elite Level 4 IMDT trainee, full insurance, DBS checks, and expert training. That level of care does not come with a budget discount.

🤝 Fairness to My Pack: It would not be fair to my gorgeous, loyal, regular clients who book months in advance and respect my business structure if I started cutting corners for ad-hoc requests.

In a completely unregulated industry, I know it can be incredibly tempting to just go with a casual hobbyist for a quick, cheap fix. But when it comes to our beloved pets, you truly get what you pay for. Cutting corners on their safety and care is simply not how I operate. 👑

A vital reminder for all my fellow dog walkers! 🐾

Following the enforcement of the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act that I posted on March 18th when this law was enforced, police now have expanded powers to seize, investigate, and fine owners whose dogs chase or distress farm animals.

Locally, the Liskeard Police have also issued a reminder that dogs must be on leads in Minions and Pensilva until July 31st to protect ground-nesting birds and young animals. Regardless of the date, dogs must be kept under control near livestock throughout the entire year.

Let’s keep our countryside safe and support our farming communities! 🌾✨
