Village Vets is a friendly, up to date and forward thinking practice dedicated to the care of pet animals. All appointments, diagnostic tests and operations are carried out at our single surgery, just off the Main street in Longniddry.

With a heavy heart, I want to share that today will be my last day at Village Vets.
Six years ago, I moved here and was lucky enough to find not just a job, but a true work family. I have loved every second of my time at Village Vets — from the incredible team who have been my literal family, especially through recent times, to all the wonderful clients and beloved pets I’ve had the privilege to care for (and, in some cases, to say goodbye to).

Due to changes in my personal circumstances, I’ve made the very difficult decision to return home to Northern Ireland with my young son, to be closer to our family.

Village Vets is such a special place — both to work at and to be a client of. Many of you will remember my little dog Lady, who was not only cared for here but also came to work with me. She lived a long and happy life, and I’m forever grateful to the amazing team here for that.

Thank you to all the wonderful clients who make this job such a joy. Your kindness, trust, and love for your animals are what make Village Vets so special. I will miss you all dearly.

A Tribute to Sheila on Her Retirement

Sheila, it’s hard to put into words just how much you will be missed — by your work family and by the many clients who’ve come to know and love you over the years.

When you first took this job, you probably didn’t know exactly what you were walking into — but you embraced it wholeheartedly and made it completely your own. You’ve been the warm, friendly face at the front of Village Vets, the calming presence in a flurry of barking dogs, ringing phones, and last-minute emergencies.

Your kindness, humour, and patience have reassured countless clients (and staff!) on the trickiest of days. And let’s not forget your sharp head for numbers — keeping us all in line and on track when things got a bit chaotic. We honestly don’t know how we’ll manage without you… but we do know we’ll be forever grateful for the time we had.

You’ve brought heart, laughter, and a quiet strength to everything you do. You’ve been the one we relied on, the one who remembered everything, and the one who always made time for a chat and a cuppa — no matter how busy the day was.

Retirement is so well-earned, and while we’ll miss you more than words can say, we hope the next chapter brings you joy, relaxation, and plenty of time to do the things you love (without having to answer the phone mid-sip of hot water!).

Thank you, Sheila — for being the soul of this place for 15 wonderful years.
