🦔🤍 A Very Special Admission 🤍🦔

This week we welcomed a hedgehog who is a little different from the usual visitors an albino hedgehog who has been named Sandy. In 28 years, this is only the fourth albino hog our rescue has cared for.

Albino hedgehogs occur naturally in the wild, but they are incredibly rare. Just like any other hedgehog, this little one came to us needing help, and they will receive the same careful rehabilitation and support as all our patients.

Because their pale colouring can make them more vulnerable outdoors, we’ll be taking extra care to make sure they have the very best chance when the time comes for release.

Sandy has an injury to her forehead and nose and is receiving treatment.

Thank you for always supporting the work we do.

Kind, respectful comments are appreciated, our focus is always on the welfare of the hedgehogs in our care.

💚🦔

🦔💦 Tonight’s drama at the water bowl…

One very cheeky hedgehog marched up, gave the poor drinker a full shoulder‑barge, and then sprinted off like a tiny spiky criminal fleeing the scene.

Honestly, the audacity.

Hedgehog etiquette is… a work in progress.

Thank you to our volunteer Holly, who provided this clip from her garden 💗

Volunteer Greg has sent this lovely clip of his resident hedgehog busying themselves in his garden.

The white patch on their back is not paint, it could be mud, or just the way the light catches their quills.

🦔🐾🐾One hedgehog is happily scoffing in Katherine’s feeding station, while another is creeping around outside waiting for his turn.

Hedgehog manners are adorable. 🦔🐾

Katherine’s little resident is having a full meltdown over which direction to take tonight.

Right?
Reverse?
Left?

He tries all three in the space of ten seconds and commits to heading left.

Totally, and utterly relatable, and very cute 🦔🐾💗

Eve's visitor is enjoying his grub 🦔🐾

Here is a lovely update of our wonderful girl Belle.
Her strimmer injury has healed so well and she is losing her silver stripe 🦔🐾

We are so thrilled with her recovery 💗

Unimpressed with the new house next door......

Volunteer Katherine, has added a brand‑new hedgehog house beside the original one.
Her resident hog inspects it… slowly… suspiciously… and with the energy of someone thinking:

“Hmm. Bold of you to assume I’m moving.”

A casual sniff, a little wander, and absolutely no commitment whatsoever.

Dennis has turned his hog pod into a fully barricaded bunker .He is, apparently, not receiving visitors at this time, including our volunteers who arrived to clean him out and replenish his food and water.

We’re not sure if he’s preparing for winter, avoiding the neighbours, or simply embracing his inner architect, but Dennis is now officially living in a self‑made hedgehog fortress, and honestly… we respect the commitment.

Sleep well, King of the Barricade 🦔🐾

Eve’s feeding station was absolutely buzzing - quite literally. Three hedgehogs squeezed in together, all popping, and fizzing.

If you’ve never heard hedgehogs “pop” before, it’s their way of saying:
“I’m big, I’m brave, and this bowl of biscuits is MINE.”

Unfortunately for them, the other two had exactly the same idea.

Don’t worry, no one was harmed, just a lot of dramatic sound effects and a few offended looks.

Hedgehogs are surprisingly sassy for creatures shaped like pom‑poms with legs 🦔🐾🦔🐾🦔 🐾
