A couple of my doggy customers in New Ash Green and Hartley have picked up a mild dose of Kennel Cough. As per vet advice they will have a minimum 14 day no contact with other dogs to avoid spreading this to others.
As a precaution we will not be mixing other dogs on our walks for a while but as Kennel Cough is airborne there is still a chance the other dogs may catch it.
What to look out for:
Persistent, hacking cough: This is the most common and recognisable symptom. It may sound like a goose honk, or as if something is stuck in their throat.
Retching or gagging: The cough is often followed by a gagging retching sound. (coughing up white bubbles)
My customer has spoken to the vet and unless anything changes does not feel the need to pay them a visit. She said it is rife at the moment and could have picked it up anywhere and as it has a long incubation period it could have been as much as 14 days ago.
If you notice any changes with your dog/s please let us know as soon as possible and if we notice anything we will inform you immediately, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks
Dawn
