Today I worked with fabulous Dave, who is a bright & energetic Labrador Retriever, to help him keep his paws on the floor when greeting people. He quickly realised this was more rewarding. Look at those eyes. 😍

Rocket Rosie had her first walk off her twining line today and look at her go! All the hardwork her lovely owners have done is really paying off. She met some nice calm dogs, started to learn the emergency stop and sit to greet too. I so very proud of her. ⭐️❤️

Despite the weather we had a great training session with Teddy today. Very pleased with his loose lead walking which was much better. He was practicing his recall, enjoying lots of sniffs which he loves, played with some dogs and then recalled back. Started to teach whistle recall, and the drop game too. Well done Teddy! 👏👏

Cooper is doing really well. At 16 weeks he has been out and out meeting dogs, exploring the world, doing lots of recalls, settling in cafes, and putting his training into practise. Lisa Jowitt is doing all the right things and she wrote this….which is very true and beautifully written.

This has been Cooper since our visit to Pico today. ❤️‍🩹 🥰 He was exactly the same yesterday meeting Fergal.

I find it fascinating learning all about this.

New surroundings and experiences bombard a dog’s senses. New smells, sights, sounds, people, other dogs even surfaces (!).

His little brain is working overtime to take in all this information, process what’s safe or not, and make sense of it.

That kind of mental activity is exhausting, especially for our puppies whose brains are still developing. ❤️‍🩹 and managing these feelings, uses up a lot of energy. (Just like people might feel drained after a fun but busy day out, dogs need recovery time too).

After a day full of new experiences, sleep helps their little brains store new information and build confidence for next time, which is why socialisation is so important.

So when the dog crashes for hours after an adventure, that’s their way of recharging and integrating all the new input.

It’s actually a sign of healthy adjustment and learning. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Well done Coops.
