Happy International Dog Day! 🐕 🐶 🥰 Alfie decided to celebrate it with by dipping his little feets in the fountain. He may have little legs but he makes up for it an enormous Daschund bark! Let’s give our deserving dogs an extra treat to celebrate this day 🥰

When you’ve finished filling up your water bottle at the fountain and turn around and see these 2 precious faces looking up at you you’d give them anything they wanted ❤️in this case it was a refreshing drink but seriously… with those faces they could have ANYTHING 🤣 ̇lovemyjob

It’s SO HOT 🥵. Otis was home alone today so he needed to get out for a bit. A Short shady walk to the park and a sit under a tree with a cool coat and lots of fresh water. We watched several poor dogs being run in the full sun and both shook our heads in disbelief at the absolute stupidity of it. Every year, every heatwave it’s the same. Your dog doesn’t need to be exercised in this heat. I’ve heard 2 stories today of dogs succumbing to the heat, both thankfully are ok now . Stay cool folks!

Ear cropping! Don’t worry Ripleys ears are fully intact, this photo is him recalling so enthusiastically that his ears flipped back 🤣 Did you know that ear cropping is illegal in the UK? Not only is it completely unnecessary- don’t fall for the ‘stops ear infections bull 💩’ but it’s also often done barbarically without anaesthesia or pain relief. Poor poor pups. There’s currently a bill going through parliament to prevent the import of cropped dogs and if it goes through fingers crossed we see an end to this awful practise.

Beautiful Milo 🥰 Looks like a wolf, sometimes sounded like one, shares over 99% DNA with one, but IS NOT A WOLF. Thousands of years of domestication and evolution mean that although they share so much they are also very different. Thinking your dog is a pack animal and that you should be ‘Alpha’ is really doing our modern dogs a disservice imo. It’s outdated theory, has been debunked and quite often an excuse to use harsh punishment which I would never advise. Some of the 💩 I hear is ridiculous ( eat first, never allow your dog to walk ahead , mimic the mother etc ugh. ) Anyway - Have a great Bank Holidays day everyone!
