🐾 STRAY CAT PROJECT UPDATE: ANTAR'S RECOVERY 🐾

Every day, we come across cats living in dangerous locations across Dubai.

Many are injured.
Many are sick.
Many are simply trying to survive another day.

As a small grassroots rescue, we cannot help every cat we see.

But whenever we can, we step in and help one life at a time. ❤️

💔 FOUND WITH A SEVERE UNTREATED WOUND

Many of you will remember Antar from our recent updates.

He was found in a very unsafe area with a large, deep wound around his neck.

By the time he reached the veterinary clinic, the injury had become a serious medical concern.

The wound had been left untreated for so long that infection had spread into the surrounding tissue.

Some of the skin had already died and had to be removed by the veterinary team.

Initially, the wound could not be stitched because the vets needed to make sure the remaining tissue was healthy and that infection would not continue to spread.

🏥 DAYS OF TREATMENT AND MONITORING

For days, Antar received intensive wound care, medication, cleaning, and close monitoring.

The veterinary team carefully managed the injury while waiting to see how his body would respond.

Thankfully, the wound remained clean and healthy.

The infection was brought under control.

And the remaining tissue began healing as hoped.

❤️ A POSITIVE STEP FORWARD

We are delighted to share that the veterinary team have now successfully closed and stitched Antar's wound.

This was a major milestone in his recovery.

While he still has healing ahead of him, the fact that the wound could finally be closed is a huge step forward and a testament to the incredible work of the veterinary team caring for him.

💔 RUN FREE, SWEET COWBOY 💔

Today our hearts are shattered.

Despite every effort from the veterinary team, Cowboy sadly passed away.

When he was found, he was in an unimaginably poor condition. Severely dehydrated, critically ill, weak, exhausted and fighting for every breath, he had clearly been suffering for a very long time.

🏥 A FIGHTER UNTIL THE VERY END

The veterinary team did everything they could to save him.

He received intensive care, medication, fluids, constant monitoring and all the support his fragile body needed.

The vet told us that considering the condition he arrived in, it was already a miracle that he survived these last few days.

Cowboy wanted to live.

He tried.

And so did everyone caring for him.

Sadly, his little body had simply been through too much.

💔 OUR ONLY COMFORT

The thing breaking our hearts most is wondering how long he suffered alone before he was found.

How many days he went without food.

How many days he went without water.

How long he struggled with illness with nobody there to help him.

But because he was rescued, his final days were different.

He was safe.

He was warm.

He was cared for.

He was loved.

And he was no longer alone.

✨ FROM SHUT DOWN TO SHINING - RIO'S INCREDIBLE JOURNEY ✨

If somebody had shown us these videos and photos when Rio was first rescued, we honestly would not have believed it was the same cat.

This is Rio.

The cat many people thought would never survive.

The cat some people told us should have been euthanised.

The cat who arrived broken, terrified, severely injured, in agony and completely shut down from the cruelty he had endured.

And yet today...

Look at him. ❤️

Look at the way he seeks affection.

Look at the way he follows people around.

Look at the way he enjoys his food.

Look at the way he has learned to trust again.

From liquid food and intensive supportive care, to enjoying more solid meals.

From barely holding on, to being discharged from the veterinary clinic.

From fear, to love.

From surviving, to finally living.

Rio still has some recovery ahead of him. He needs to gain more weight, rebuild his strength and allow his fur to continue growing back. But medically, he has come further than we ever dared hope in those early days.

And none of this happened by accident.

It happened because somebody chose to help.

It happened because a veterinary team fought for him.

It happened because people donated.

It happened because people shared his story.

And most importantly, it happened because Rio never gave up.

💔 A NOTE FROM US

Even now, despite Rio's recovery, we still occasionally receive comments suggesting he should have been euthanised or accusations that rescue animals are used for financial gain.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Anyone who has followed Rio's journey can see exactly where every donation went - towards his treatment, surgeries, medications, hospitalisation and recovery.

The reality is that fundraisers rarely cover the full cost of care. Like many independent rescuers, we personally cover the remaining costs ourselves, often using our own savings and credit cards to ensure animals like Rio receive the help they desperately need.

We do this because every life matters.

And Rio is living proof that sometimes a life others have given up on simply needs a chance.

🚨 PLEASE HELP COWBOY FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE 🚨

We never wanted to share footages like these.

But if we don't show the reality, people will never understand what so many street cats endure every single day.

This is Cowboy.

A street cat who was found collapsed in a deserted area under the scorching UAE heat, severely dehydrated, starving, and barely clinging to life.

When he arrived at the clinic, the veterinary team were not even sure he would survive the night.

His body was shutting down.

His dehydration was one of the worst the rescuer had ever seen.

His blood results showed severe dehydration, infection, inflammation, anaemia, and significant concerns for his kidneys and pancreas.

💔 And yet...somehow, he is still fighting.

❤️ A SMALL MIRACLE

Yesterday, the rescuer visited Cowboy and found him doing something nobody expected.

He was eating.

Slowly.

Weakly.

But eating.

The veterinary team have described even standing up as a miracle considering how critical his condition was when he arrived.

Every mouthful of food.

Every sip of water.

Every hour he keeps fighting.

It is a victory.

👁️ THERE IS STILL HOPE

One of the biggest concerns has been his eyes.

The severe infection and dehydration caused his eyes to sink deeply, leaving us terrified he may have lost his sight.

Thankfully, the veterinary team believe there is still hope.

At this stage, they do not think he is completely blind.

If his body responds to treatment and the infection continues to improve, there is a chance that Cowboy may be able to see again.

We are holding onto that hope with everything we have.

🐾 WHO IS COWBOY?

The veterinary team initially estimated Cowboy to be around 9 years old when he arrived at the clinic.

However, because of the severe dehydration, illness, starvation, and overall condition he was found in, determining the age of a street cat accurately can be very difficult.

They now believe he is likely somewhere between f
5 and 9 years old.

Whatever his exact age may be, one thing is certain - this poor boy has spent far too long struggling to survive on the streets alone.

Years of hardship.

Years of hunger.

Years without anyone looking out for him.

And yet somehow, despite everything life has thrown at him, he is still here fighting.

💔 THE ROAD AHEAD

Cowboy remains extremely weak.

His kidneys are still a major concern.

His infections remain severe.

His face, eyes, mouth, and respiratory system have all been affected.

The road ahead will be long.

There will be more treatment.

More medication.

More diagnostics.

More hospitalisation.

And more veterinary bills.

But after surviving what he already has, he deserves every chance we can give him.

🚨 DUMPED TO DIE: THE HIDDEN REALITY OF UAE STREET CATS 🚨

WARNING: Some of the images in this post are distressing.

This poor boy was found collapsed in a deserted area under the scorching UAE heat.

Alone. Starving. Severely dehydrated. Unable to properly open his eyes. Barely able to stand. Fighting for every breath.

When he was found, his body temperature had dropped dangerously low. The veterinary team were not even sure he would survive the night.

In fact, they were shocked when he suddenly got up and attempted to eat a small amount of food.

That tiny moment gave us hope.

But his fight is far from over.

💔 WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?

We cannot say with absolute certainty what happened.

However, sadly, this is something rescuers in the UAE see far too often.

Cats are frequently removed from busy areas, residential communities, tourist locations, and places where complaints are made. Many people never see what happens afterwards.

The reality is that cats are often trapped and relocated far away from the areas they know.

Far away from food.

Far away from water.

Far away from the people who may have been feeding them.

Many end up dumped in isolated desert areas with little to no chance of survival.

And when we found this boy collapsed in a deserted area, suffering from severe dehydration, starvation, illness, and exhaustion, we couldn't help but wonder if this is exactly what happened to him.

Because no healthy cat ends up in this condition overnight.

🏥 HIS CONDITION

The veterinary team believe he is an older cat, approximately 9 years old.

He appears to have been suffering from severe untreated flu or calicivirus for a long time. Without treatment, the infection spread throughout his body.

His eyes became affected.

His chest and lungs became affected.

His body became weaker and weaker.

Combined with severe dehydration, lack of food, and exposure to extreme temperatures, his condition became critical.

The rescuer described his dehydration as one of the worst she has ever seen. His skin was stiff from dehydration. His body was literally shutting down.

His blood test results paint an equally devastating picture.

The results show significant anaemia, severe dehydration, widespread inflammation, and evidence of chronic illness throughout his body.

His urea levels are critically elevated, consistent with prolonged dehydration and starvation.

His protein and globulin levels are extremely high, indicating severe infection and inflammation that has likely been present for a considerable period of time.

Most concerning of all, his lipase levels are massively elevated — more than three times the normal range — suggesting serious pancreatic involvement on top of everything else he is already battling.

Even the veterinary team were shocked by how severe his condition was.

The fact that he managed to stand up and try to eat is nothing short of remarkable.

Every mouthful of food.

Every sip of water.

Every hour he continues to fight.

These are victories right now.

😭 HE WAS READY TO DIE

The most heartbreaking part wasn't his physical condition.

It was his expression.

The complete exhaustion.

The hopelessness.

The absence of any fight left in him.

As though he had accepted that nobody was coming.

That nobody cared.

That this was where his life would end.

Then someone stopped.

Someone noticed.

Someone cared.

And now he has a chance.

🙏 HIS FIGHT IS ONLY BEGINNING

Right now, the veterinary team are doing everything they can.

He remains extremely fragile.

His temperature continues to fluctuate.

He is receiving intensive care, fluids, medication, nutritional support, and constant monitoring.

We still do not know whether he will survive.

But we owe him every chance.

If he pulls through, his recovery will be long and expensive.

Potentially one of the most expensive cases we have faced this year.

More diagnostics.

More medication.

More hospitalisation.

More treatment.

More specialist care.

But we will not give up on him.

🐾 ONE LIFE AT A TIME – HELPING THE FORGOTTEN STRAYS OF DUBAI 🐾

Every day, countless street cats suffer in silence.

Many spend their entire lives surviving on scraps, avoiding danger, battling illness, and hoping to make it through another day. Most will never know what it feels like to be loved, safe, or cared for.

As a small grassroots rescue, we can't save them all.

But we can help one life at a time.

Today, we're asking for help for one of those lives.

💔 A NEW BOY IN NEED

This handsome boy recently came into our care after being found with a very large and extremely deep wound.

We don't know exactly what caused it.

The veterinary team believe it may have been the result of a bite wound or injuries sustained during a fight, but unfortunately the infection was left untreated for so long that it became a serious medical emergency.

🏥 WHAT THE VETS FOUND

The infection spread deeply into the surrounding tissue.

Sadly, some of the skin and tissue had already died and had to be surgically removed to stop the infection from spreading further.

His wound has now been cleaned thoroughly, but it cannot be stitched closed yet.

The area remains inflamed and infected, and closing it too early could cause even more complications.

The current plan is to continue treatment and reassess the wound in approximately 7–10 days. If healing progresses well, the vets will then be able to perform surgery to close it.

🤧 HE'S FIGHTING MORE THAN ONE BATTLE

As if the wound wasn't enough, this poor boy is also suffering from a severe respiratory infection.

When he arrived, he had significant nasal discharge and clear signs of cat flu.

The good news is that both conditions are now being treated at the same time, giving him the best possible chance of recovery.

🐱 THE REALITY OF STREET LIFE

This is sadly the reality for many of Dubai's street cats.

Without access to veterinary care, even a small injury can become life-threatening.

Many suffer quietly until their bodies simply cannot cope anymore.

This boy is one of the lucky ones.

Someone noticed.

Someone stopped.

Someone cared.

And because of that, he now has a chance.

Once he has recovered, completed treatment, and been neutered, we hope to relocate him to a much safer area than the industrial environment where he was found.

Just look at that face. 🥹💛

While other cats have packed their bags and headed off to their forever homes, Luna is still sitting by the window waiting for hers.

Waiting.
Watching.
Hoping.

Since being rescued in June 2025, Luna has grown from a tiny palm-tree princess into a beautiful young lady. She has had enquiries, she has had interest, but somehow she is still here.

And honestly? We think she's waited long enough. 💔

🐾 ABOUT LUNA

Luna isn't the type of cat that needs to be glued to another cat 24/7.

In fact, she's quite happy doing her own thing.

She gets along perfectly fine with other cats and doesn't mind sharing her space, but she's also incredibly comfortable in her own company. She enjoys having her own little spots, her own routines, and her own independence.

What she truly loves?

💛 Humans.
💛 Fuss.
💛 Head scratches.
💛 Attention.
💛 Being admired for how gorgeous she is.

She's the kind of cat who will happily come for affection, enjoy your company, then wander off for a little "me time" before returning for more cuddles later.

Because of her personality, Luna would do wonderfully either:
🐱 As an only cat
OR
🐱 With a calm, respectful feline companion.

A little cat fact: once adult cats become comfortable living alone, many become very content with their own space and routine. While some happily accept other feline friends, others simply prefer being the star of the show. Luna would genuinely be happy with either setup as long as she has loving humans to call her own. 💛

✨ RIO UPDATE - FROM SURVIVING…TO FINALLY STARTING TO LIVE 🤍🐾

Honestly, looking at Rio now compared to when he was first rescued feels emotional beyond words.

This little boy still has a long journey ahead of him, but the difference already is incredible. 🥺

Rio is now so much brighter, more vibrant and full of life. As you can see from the videos, he absolutely ADORES his rescuer and runs after her everywhere for attention, cuddles and food. 🤍

After everything he endured, seeing him trust and love humans this deeply is something truly special.

🏥 RECOVERY UPDATE

Rio has now undergone his third surgery to remove more damaged back teeth. Thankfully, his stitches have already been removed and his eye has healed beautifully.

If everything continues going well and no further complications appear, we are hoping he may finally be discharged from the vet within the next few days. 🙏

He still needs time, patience and recovery support:
• He needs to gain more weight
• His body still needs rebuilding after severe malnourishment
• He still has some patchy fur from the condition he was found in

But slowly…he is getting there. 🤍

His fur will grow back.
His body will recover.
And most importantly - he is finally safe.

🍲 FOOD & RECOVERY

Rio is now eating biscuits/dry food and managing much more solid food than before, which is a huge step for him.

Because of everything his little body has been through, we are making sure every change happens gradually and carefully so his system responds well and continues healing safely.

And honestly? This boy LOVES his food. 😭❤️

🌙 DOES ANYONE REMEMBER LUNA? OUR PALM TREE PRINCESS IS STILL WAITING…🌙

Luna was rescued in June 2025 after being found crying alone in the desert…clinging to the TOP of a palm tree like a tiny furry Rapunzel. 🌴😭

A kind petrol station worker heard her cries through the night and kept leaving food and milk for her while trying to get help.

🚗 Trip one…no Luna.
🚗 Trip two…still no Luna.
🚗 Trip three…SUCCESS.

Tiny. Terrified. Stuck in a palm tree in the middle of nowhere.

And ever since that day…she has been waiting. 💔

Month after month has passed.
She has watched other rescues leave for their forever homes while she quietly remains behind.

We’ve had interest in Luna over time, but sadly nothing has worked out for her yet — and she is still patiently waiting for the right person to truly commit to her.

And honestly? We cannot understand why.

Because Luna has grown into such a lovely young cat. 💛

As she’s becoming an adult now, she has calmed down beautifully compared to her wild kitten days - but she still absolutely adores attention, fuss, playtime, and carrying her favourite toy mouse around proudly. 🐭

She still has her playful little spark, just with a softer, more affectionate side now. 🖤🐆

• Indoor-only home required
• Great with other cats (slow introductions)

• Affectionate, playful & full of personality

🏡 WHAT LUNA NEEDS:
• A safe indoor-only home
• Cat-proofed balcony/garden/catio if outdoor access is available
• A patient and committed adopter who understands rescue is forever
• Another calm/playful cat friend or can be adopted alone

📍Currently in Dubai, UAE
✈️ Can relocate internationally to the right home.

There is no “adoption fee”.

We ask for a contribution towards Luna’s relocation costs from Dubai to the UK. This covers only around half of the professional relocation costs, with the remaining amount fundraised by us.
