Our Story
Richard and Steven are childhood friends originally from Bristol who recognised the concern for future food production in a world with a growing population. In 2014 they crowdfunded to build the Growing Underground farm to hydroponically grow healthy, sustainable leafy greens and herbs in disused WW2 air raid tunnels 100ft under the streets of London which attracted the backing of Michel Roux Jr. The farm’s unique location means crops are not affected by adverse weather conditions meaning all year round production, uses 70% less water than conventional farming and no pesticides. Yay! Discover our micro herb salads at Marks and Spencer, Whole Foods, Farmdrop, Ocado and Planet Organic :) Twitter https://twitter.com/GrownUnder Instagram https://instagram.com/growing_underground/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/zerocarbonfood Growing Underground: http://growing-underground.com Crowdfunding campaign http://www.crowdcube.com/investment/zero-carbon-food-13724
