Has your pooch had an accident and cut their paw pad? Follow this advice from Dog First Aid Franchise Ltd:

🐾 Check the pad for any glass, thorns or other small foreign objects and carefully remove*
🐾 Apply firm pressure to the wound for at least one minute - ideally with a sterile gauze swab
🐾 Apply a pressure bandage to the wound to keep the gauze swab in place
🐾 Call the vet for advice - the dog may need to be examined

*If the foreign object is larger than a thorn or other very small item - DO NOT REMOVE as this may cause more harm.

A dogs coat is a really good indicator of their health.

It should be generally be supple and glossy.

There shouldn’t be dandruff, fleas, ticks, patches of hair loss or matting.

If the dog is unwell the colour of the coat may change slightly, it may become more dull, there may be new swirls.

Check for other symptoms such as a change in gum colour, change in eating or toileting habits, change in energy levels and speak to your vet for advice.

Hooray!

Just a quick reminder of popular fillings that may be toxic for your dog (depending on size of dog, quantity consumed, etc):

Chocolate
Macadamia nuts
Putter butter that contains xylitol

Of course milk, sugar (inc syrups), butter and ice cream aren't very good for dogs either!

Enjoy, but keep out of reach of your dogs.

✨🐶 Temporary Closure!
Sparkly Barker has been closed this week while I start to recover from a car accident Sunday night.
Thankfully, no major injuries but bumped, bruised and very shaken. However, I’m experiencing quite significant back pain.
Thank you for your understanding about being cancelled this week - I am sorry not to be able to provide rescheduled dates at this stage.
While I’m not 100% certain of my restart date, I will be in touch with next week’s pups as soon as possible. Apologies in advance for the inconvenience.
