Before thinking about getting your first dog do make sure you know the breed you are getting. It's so important to research it, not all dogs are the same in their needs.

PLEASE PLEASE leave me at home.
It's not nice for me to walk next to you in the heat. But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits.

And so I walk beside you, stand still if I must. And feel my paws burn. I look at you for a moment, but you don't understand. Because in 5 minutes, we will be at the cool puddle, right?
But those 5 little minutes can now just be fatal for me. Because I sweat through my tongue and my paws and this heat I just can't reach the puddle in time.

I cook from the inside, but I keep going.....

And so I end up on the asphalt. In the heat and in the sun.
With my tongue out of my mouth and my eyes blinking in the sun.
My feet burned my tongue dry and my head pounding from the heat that my body can't get rid of.

Let your dog enjoy the sun, at home with a large bowl of water, a place in the shade. And best of all, preferably a cool patch of grass.

No dog has ever died from not getting a walk.

With the warmer weather ahead, owners should be mindful of the signs of heatstroke. 🌡️ Heatstroke is a serious illness that develops when a dog gets too hot and is unable to lower its temperature. Left untreated, heatstroke can lead to seizures, organ failure and even death.

Any dog can develop heatstroke, but overweight, young, elderly, flat-faced, giant-breed, and thick-coated dogs are particularly at risk, even from just sitting out in hot weather.

Some of the most common triggers for heatstroke include:
🥵 Overheating during exercise - accounts for 74% of cases
☀️ Being outside in hot weather (even just sitting still) - accounts for 12.9% of cases
🚘♨️ Being trapped in a hot car - accounts for 5.2% of cases

See advice from our vets on what you can do to help prevent or provide first aid for heatstroke: http://pdsa.me/hpSh

🧊 Please note that ice cubes are perfectly safe for dogs to use as a treat to cool down on a hot day. It is when a dog is suffering from heatstroke that the drastic change in temperature from the ice can cause shock, and therefore should be avoided. A dog’s normal body temperature is around 38.6°C (101.5°F).

This little dog has been missing since November, she was with her owner by the Tate modern and a firework was set off which made her bolt, since then there has only been one sighting of her in the area. Someone may know where she is, if you see her please contact the number in the poster, please share this too so we can bring Sansa home to her owner where she belongs.
