Ahead of bonfire night, our vet clinic team shared what they do at home to keep their own pets chilled out and happy. Any tricks we’ve missed that work a treat for your pet? Let us know in the comments.

🐶 Create a cosy hideaway (somewhere your pet feels safe and can retreat to).
🐱 Keep the curtains closed and the lights on (it helps muffle flashes and sounds).
🎶 Play gentle music or put on a TV (familiar sounds can be wonderfully comforting).
🦴 Stay calm yourself (pets pick up on our energy, so try to relax).
💊 Ask us about calming aids (from pheromone diffusers to supplements, we can advise on what’s best).

Meet Dr. Sorcha, Head Vet at our new Bushey practice.
🐾🏃‍♀️💨🍀🐈🐓🫏
Sorcha is an experienced general practitioner, surgeon, and Official Veterinarian with a Master’s degree in One Health from the University of Glasgow. Prior to becoming our Head Vet in Bushey, she worked in our brilliant Hackney team. Before that, she practiced in the US for two years, followed by another two year stint in Australia. Sorcha is a keen runner and has completed an impressive ✨6 marathons✨ including Boston, Sydney and, most recently, Dublin (just two days ago!). Back in Ireland, her family keeps donkeys, cats and chickens—we’ll let you guess where she got her passion for animals from. If you’re in the Bushey area, pop by our clinic and say hi, she’d be happy to give you a tour around.

✨ We’re officially open in Bushey! ✨
Yesterday marked our very first day caring for pets in Bushey (the hometown of our co-founder Oli) and we couldn’t be more grateful for the warm welcome. 💛

To celebrate, we’re hosting an Open Day this Sunday, 2nd November! 🎉🍾

Two brave kitties, two successful surgeries. 🐱💛
Both had swallowed thread (and one even a needle).
We’re so grateful they’ve recovered fully!
A reminder to all cat parents: thread, string, and sewing supplies can be deadly if swallowed. Keep them safely out of reach (and keep an eye out for hidden sources like upholstery) 🙏

When he came to the clinic for his vaccine, little Loki was so delighted by nurse Millie’s cuddles that he did a mighty wee. At least he helped her to clean it up. 🙈💛💦

Bailey’s surgery story 🐶💛
Andy credits Bailey with turning his life around after battling addiction and facing life on the street. He bough Bailey for £12 on the day he left prison. From that day, he has never reoffended.
Recently, Bailey underwent a TPLO (Tibial Platea Leveling Osteotomy) at London Fields to fix a knee injury. At over 12 years old, Bailey is a senior boy, requiring extra special care. Dr. Andre, who performed the surgery for free, was assisted by deputy head nurse and StreetVet volunteer Millie.
Thanks to the team at Hello Vet and SAS - Small Animal Surgery in-house referrals, Bailey is now on the mend.
Andy and Bailey’s story is what StreetVet is all about, love loyalty, and second chances. Hello Vet is proud to have played a small part in their story.

Meet Dr Tashy. 👩🏻‍⚕️🐾🌏❤️

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Tashy made a big career leap from the music industry to veterinary medicine, and has never looked back.

With a big heart for animal welfare, she’s volunteered with rescued farm animals in Victoria, fruit bats in Queensland, sun bears in Borneo, and dogs and cats across Southeast Asia.

A passionate foster carer (especially for ex-racing greyhounds!), Tashy has shared her home with everything from dingoes to guinea pigs.

Her biggest love? Shelter medicine and charity work, where she feels most connected to the animals who need it most. 💛
