Go Otto 💪

Gorgeous boy Otto was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) earlier this year and has since been attending Aquavet Hydrotherapy as part of his treatment plan.

His regular sessions have been helping to improve his mobility, gait and strength, helping him remain active and comfortable.

Hydrotherapy has also helped Otto shed some weight, something that can be very tricky during recovery! He's almost at his ideal weight range, which is crucial for managing his IVDD.

We are delighted to see Otto's progress 🐾💙

Did you know? Keyhole surgery can significantly reduce postoperative pain and discomfort 💙

But what exactly is a 'Lap Spay'?

🔹 A lap spay is a surgical procedure performed using very small incisions through which a camera and instruments are placed inside the abdomen. This keyhole method enables our surgeons to perform an 'ovariectomy' (the removal of the ovaries) without the need to open the abdomen.

🔹 This is great news for dogs as this often has much faster healing times, smaller wounds and less post operative pain

We are delighted to hear that this lovely cygnet has made a full recovery and has been safely released 🦢💙

How upsetting! 😔This Cygnet was seen with fishing line in its mouth by a caring member of the public. Fishing line should always be discarded appropriately. Luckily, he was caught and taken to Taverham Vets for overnight pain relief before being transferred to us. He then underwent a full general anaesthetic and endoscopy to locate and remove the fish hook by our amazing vet team!

After some time feeding up and checking his waterproofing on one of our outside pools, he has been released and reunited with his family! 🦢

Beautiful Odin is a 6-year-old cat who underwent dental surgery last week. Here you can see him having a wonderfully relaxing time with Student Nurse Morgan.

Here at Taverham Vets we work hard to reduce stress in our feline patients during their time with us. Some of the measures we have implemented include;

😺 A separate cat only waiting area
😺 A separate cat only hospital ward to minimise noise disturbance and foot traffic
😺 Classical music playing in cattery at a low volume which is shown to decrease stress levels in clinical settings
😺 Multiple litter tray sizes and types
😺 Cat only bedding to ensure they remain free from canine scents
😺 Gentle and slow handling techniques
😺 The use of pet remedy spray and cat carrier covers
