☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING ☀️
As temperatures rise across England today up to 35 degrees, please remember that dogs and cats can suffer from heatstroke much faster than we do.
🐶 For dogs:
• Walk early morning or late evening only
• Check pavements with the back of your hand – if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws
• Always carry water
• Never leave them in a car, even for a few minutes!
🐱 For cats:
• Make sure they have access to cool, shaded areas
• Provide multiple water bowls around the house and garden
• Consider adding ice cubes to water bowls
• Watch for excessive panting, lethargy, or drooling
♥️ Top hot weather tips:
✅ Freeze treats for enrichment
✅ Use cooling mats or damp towels
✅ Keep curtains closed during the hottest part of the day
✅ Offer wet food to help with hydration
✅ Brush out excess fur (but don't shave coats unless advised)
⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, weakness, vomiting, confusion, collapse, or unresponsiveness. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet somewhere cool, offer water, and contact a vet immediately.
Stay safe and keep those paws and whiskers cool today! 🐾❤️
