Did you know that there are 5 major types of dog personalities? Check these out & let us know which best describe your furkids!

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙤𝙜: comfortable in most surroundings - natural born leaders - can easily take charge - likely good team players – body language displays openness and composure

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙝𝙮 𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙙 𝘿𝙤𝙜: take longer to acclimate to surroundings - do not enjoy being forced into doing things - react very well to praise and encouragement - avoid chaotic or loud environments – enjoy feeling safe, secure & loved

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙤𝙜: think instinctually - bond better with leaders - may appear to be standoffish - do not enjoy being forced to socialise or train unless motivated by the right approach - perfectly Ok by themselves

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙖𝙞𝙙𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠, 𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝘿𝙤𝙜: the friendly dogs who love everybody - typically get along with all people, dogs and even cats - tend to be overly enthusiastic – benefit from training to keep calm and contain over-excitement – love the notion of ‘let’s be best friends for life!’

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙤𝙜: eager to please in any environment - will control enthusiasm in favour of doing something that makes owner happy - easiest to train - friendly without being overly exuberant - can make great therapy dogs due to calm and open nature

Just like people, dogs have their own distinct and unique personalities 🧡 They may display more than one personality type, but usually one will be more dominant than the others. Which types best describe your dog's?

** Here's a list of tips for you to truly connect with your dog 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 '𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲' **
[Because not every part of your or their life needs to be structured!]

• Follow their lead
• Really listen (engage) and give your full attention
• Observe what type of play they most engage in - join in however you can
• Allow yourself to be free and silly if your dog enjoys it (chase, roll, climb, splash ... you know the deal!)
• Try not to judge or extra-evaluate what they are doing (or what you’re doing)
• Let go of rules; there is no ‘right’ way to play (As long as they are safe!)
• Respect how important it is for them to play and provide them with opportunities to do it as often as possible
• Remember, you don’t need very expensive or an endless supply of toys to be able to have fun! A small, fun assortment of safe toys which you keep in rotation should be enough.

Enjoy!!!
