Red light isn’t new in vet rehab. If you’ve ever visited a veterinary rehabilitation center, you may have seen photobiomodulation (PBM), the technical name for red and near-infrared light therapy, on the menu.

Many rehab practices use it as one tool among several, often alongside things like therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy, and manual therapy, to support dogs and cats dealing with joint stiffness or recovering from surgery. 🩺

The key word is supportive. In a rehab setting, light is typically a complement to a plan built by a vet or rehab professional, not a stand-alone fix. Every pet’s plan looks different, and the vet decides what goes in it.

Halloween is almost here. What’s your pet dressing up as this year? 🎃🐾
Pumpkin? Hot dog? A tiny wizard who is clearly judging you? Whatever the costume, we want to see it. 👻

Drop a photo of your pet’s Halloween look in the comments. Extra points for the “I’m only wearing this for the treats” expression. 😂

And if your pet decides the costume party is over after ten minutes, no hard feelings. Costume parties can be exhausting for pets too, and a wind-down session afterward doesn’t hurt. 🎃 Cozy blanket, quiet corner, maybe a Restore session, whatever helps your pet settle in for the night. 🧡

“Will Restore work for my big dog?” Here’s the honest answer. 🐕🐾
The wrap pad measures 17.3" × 11.0". For small to medium dogs and most cats, that’s enough to cover the whole back in one session.

Larger breeds are a different story. For bigger dogs, think targeted sessions (back, shoulders, hips) rather than full-body coverage in one go. 🎯 The adjustable strap keeps the wrap secure on whichever area you’re focusing on that day, so you can rotate through the spots that matter most to your dog.

It’s also a good fit for younger, active big dogs. Plenty of owners of Labs, Shepherds, and Goldens like building a regular wellness routine early, around the hips and shoulders that do the most work on hikes, runs, and fetch sessions. 🥾

Long-backed breeds carry some unique risks. If you’ve got a dachshund or corgi, what’s part of your at-home routine? 🐕🐾

Those long backs and short legs are a big part of why we love them. They also mean many owners pay extra attention to day-to-day habits, like how their dog gets on and off the couch, takes the stairs, or moves first thing in the morning.

We’d love to hear what works in your home:
🔸 Ramps or steps for the couch and bed?
🔸 Harness instead of collar on walks?
🔸 Keeping weight in check?
🔸 A quick “how are they moving today?” check?
🔸 Something else entirely?

Share your routine in the comments, and tell us your dog’s breed and age while you’re at it. Your habits might give another dachshund or corgi parent a new idea. 🧡

And a friendly reminder: if you ever notice something unusual with your dog’s back, legs, or movement, such as sudden pain, reluctance to move, or wobbliness, please call your vet promptly. 🩺

Why did we build Restore? It started with a question. 🐾

We kept meeting pet parents who wanted to do something for their pets every day, and kept running into the same two walls.

The first was professional equipment that’s expensive and lives in a clinic. The second was handheld devices that sound great until you’re trying to hold one steady on a dog who has decided it’s playtime, or a cat who left the room three minutes ago.

Good intentions shouldn’t have to end there.

We didn’t want wellness care to require a vet visit or a fight to hold your pet still. 🧡

So we built Restore to be hands-free, easy to set up, and comfortable enough that a daily routine feels realistic, not like a chore for you or your pet. It isn’t meant to replace your vet. It’s meant to make everyday care something you can actually keep up with.

That’s the whole idea. Thank you for letting us be part of your pet’s routine. 🐶🐱

“Can I use Restore alongside my pet’s supplements or other care?” — great question, and here’s the straightforward answer. 🐾

Red light therapy is meant to be an add-on to your pet’s daily wellness routine, not a replacement for anything else. That means it can fit right alongside supplements, physical therapy, and regular vet care. 🧡

It’s designed to complement your pet’s routine, not replace it — just check with your vet if they’re on certain medications.

One important exception: if your pet is currently on immunosuppressants, chemotherapy, or any photosensitizing medication, please talk to your vet before starting red light sessions. And honestly, it’s always a good idea to loop your vet in whenever you add something new to your pet’s routine. 🩺

Restore is a wellness device, not a medical device, and isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.

Big hike or long fetch session — does your dog bounce back fast, or need a full day to recover? 🥾🐕

Some dogs finish a 10-mile hike and immediately demand round two. Others crash on the couch like they just ran a marathon and need the rest of the day (and maybe tomorrow) to recover. 😅

We’re curious how it plays out across different dogs:
🔸 What breed is yours, and how old?
🔸 What’s their go-to activity (hiking, fetch, agility, herding, running)?
🔸 Bounce-back dog, or full recovery day?

Drop your answers below. Active-dog parents, we’d love to compare notes. 🐾

Does fur get in the way of red light therapy? Short answer: it can, but it's easy to work with. 🐾

Coat color, thickness, and length all affect how much light actually reaches your pet's skin. Darker pigment absorbs more light at the surface, and a dense coat scatters more of it. Veterinary research on dogs has found that darker, unshaved coats let noticeably less light through than lighter or shaved ones.

The good news: not all light behaves the same way. 850nm near-infrared is less affected by dark pigment than 660nm red, and that's one reason Restore uses both wavelengths together.

Darker, thicker coats need closer contact or longer sessions — that's exactly why dual-wavelength coverage matters. 🧡
No shaving needed for daily at-home use. 🙌

Red light does pe*****te through pet fur — but coat colour, density, and device distance all affect how much reaches the skin. Here's what the research shows, and how to adjust your sessions accordingly.

"My dog just won't stay still for it" — one of the most common things we hear. Here's what actually helps. 🐾

Let them sniff and explore the wrap first — a minute or two usually removes most of the "what is this thing" hesitation.

Timing matters too. Start during their natural downtime (right after a walk, or during the evening wind-down) and begin with short 3-5 minute sessions at the lowest intensity. Build up gradually from there — no need to rush into a full session on day one.

No tangled wires, no interruptions — even a little wiggling won't stop the session. 🧲

That's actually one of the reasons we built Restore as a wrap instead of a handheld device — it stays securely in place even if your dog shifts or resettles, so minor movement doesn't mean starting over.

Most pets adjust within the first few sessions, and plenty start associating the wrap with rest time on their own.
