Which is your favourite? Ebony Horse Club’s journey is now depicted, through graffiti, onsite at our Club in Brixton… Something very special happened to kick off half-term here; we welcomed the founder of Ebony Horse Club, Ros, & a panel of Ebony’s founding & original members to a bespoke Q&A (check out our Instagram page to hear ).
It was a fascinating & powerful evening where our current members asked questions & learned about Ebony’s history & celebrated the journey to where it is today.
Based on all they learned, the young people worked with graffiti artist, James from Aero Arts to design a visual timeline of Ebony’s journey. The detail & meaning behind each element tells the story of where Ebony Horse Club started (at the Accra Centre, depicted by sepia style photos - image 1), to where it is today (moving into colour - image 2), & then on to all our members hopes for the future (image 3).
At the Q&A one of the things that shocked the room was that Ebony had started with just 5 young people, who’d had to travel for hours to visit different riding schools to ride just once every 9 weeks, waking up before sunrise & carrying all their riding gear with them. Ebony now gets to work with over 180 young people every week, who ride onsite at least once a week!
Thank you to all who made the Q&A such a powerful & unforgettable event; Ros (Founder of Ebony Horse Club), Akua, Mussei, Jackie, Shanice, Cherrie, Natasha & Vanessa.
& thank you to James, & big congratulations to our talented young people for creating such a impactful, intricate & purposeful illustration of Ebony’s journey.
