This weekend, thanks to recent improvements in time travel, you can find us in no few than three separate locations!

Today - Friday - we're on Portobello outside Fabrique, which IMO sells the best coffees and sourdough on the Bella.

Tomorrow - Saturday - you can find us at Highgate's Fair in the Square, Pond Square N6 6BS. It was one of the highlights of the summer last year and once again you'll find us at the top of South Grove (near the Flask pub) right next to the dog show arena!

All weekend - Saturday and Sunday - you'll also find us at Dogfest Knebworth House, stand 204. It was another of my favourite festivals last summer, which is why, when faced with the choice of where to be this weekend, I decided we had to be everywhere! It's just an hour from London and has great transport links.

Let me introduce you to the lovely Caroline Donoghue whose 220,000 followers tune in for top grooming tips and dog antics.

I accidentally ended up chatting to her agent at Goodwoof (long story), while Caroline wandered into our tent, had a squizz… and left.

End of story?
Not quite.

An hour later she came running back. Said she couldn’t stop thinking about one of the sweatshirts. Bought it. Full price. No “Do you know who I am?” Just genuine love.

Then she plastered it all over her IG.
What. A. Legend.

And that, friends, is how a very cool internet stranger made my day.

🐕‍🦺 What’s your dog’s favourite thing to do on a walk?

If you don’t know the answer yet take a moment to:

🐕 Observe them when you’re next out on a walk. Do they spend their time with their nose to the ground or looking at the sky for passing birds or with their ears pointed towards the hedgerows?

🐶 Try out some new things like jumping over logs or throwing a stick and see how they respond.

🐩 Take their breed into account. The job they were originally bred to do is what they will most likely get the most satisfaction from.

That’s how I found out that Button likes to retrieve a small stick. She’s half Yorkie, and Yorkshire terriers were originally bred to catch 🐁 and 🐀 in the cloth mills of the north of England, so I had a hunch she would enjoy shaking something in her mouth.

She brought the stick back to me time and time again and gave herself the satisfaction of ‘killing’ it over and over. Such a clever girl 👏!

One of our lovely clients shared this recently. Her gorgeous miniature poodle Yogi had recently been attacked, leaving him wounded and her traumatised.

I first met him just two weeks after the attack and was so bowled over by how quickly he bounced back and how little rancour he appeared to hold against the world that I felt inspired to write about him in my weekly newsletter, The Woofington Post.

Anyone lucky enough to have a sighthound in their lives knows that they are delicate creatures. Their fur is thin and doesn’t really keep them warm (unless they’re running around like loons of course.) Their skin is thin and tears easily; their paws are fine and not made for stony surfaces, their elbows are bony and allergic to anything hard. In short, it’s safe to say their natural habitat is NOT a pebble beach on a breezy spring day…

Fortunately they have one special survival skill that makes up for their physical delicacies - THE EYES 👀 . That pitiful, wide-eyed look 🥹 speaks volumes of their immense suffering, and we humans are powerless in its presence. Or at least I THINK that’s how Tigger ended up sitting pretty in my dry robe while I gamely air dried my frozen limbs after a dip in a 9-degree sea…
