It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Cecil, our beloved Lady Amherst’s Pheasant. 💔

On Monday, 9th June 2025, we said goodbye after a long period of care and monitoring. Cecil had been receiving treatment for arthritis, and our dedicated zoo vet and keepers did everything possible to manage his condition and ensure his comfort.

At 14 years old, Cecil had been a part of our Zoo family since 2012. He was a striking and graceful bird, much loved by staff and visitors alike.

He will be dearly missed. 💚

For those wondering, the deer was called Daisy, the Wildcat was hiding in square C3 and the longest jump on the lemur long jump was 2.5m! 🦌🐈🐒

Say hello to one of the UK's rarest and most elusive animals – the Scottish wildcat – caught here in a rare moment of peace, curled up and fast asleep. 💚

Known as the “Highland Tiger,” Scottish wildcats are critically endangered, with only a few individuals left in the wild. Though they look like domestic cats, these fierce felines are wild through and through – and spotting one, even asleep, is a special moment.

Let’s work together to protect their habitats and support conservation efforts to keep this iconic species thriving for generations to come. 🌿
