A lot of my design process happens quietly at my table, somewhere between the idea in my head and the finished piece you eventually hold in yours. I love that part of the process just as much as seeing the finished piece come to life.
I’ve always loved sharing the inspiration behind a Wyld Cub collection, but I rarely show you all the other little decisions that happen in between.
Coming from a brand design background, I’ve always been drawn to the tangible side of design. Testing colour in real light, understanding scale and proportion, holding hardware against materials and seeing how something physically works in your hand. I need to be able to hold an idea before I can fully understand it.
With our Belgravia poo caddies, that meant working through the design at full scale and seeing how the shape, hardware and proportions felt together before finalising anything.
It’s funny how differently you see something once it becomes tangible. A few millimetres can change the balance completely. A tiny Pantone shift can change how two colours sit together.
Often, the smallest details speak the loudest to me. What ultimately makes the cut is whether something makes me smile, feels true to Wyld Cub and belongs within the wider collection.
Belgravia was designed as one complete series, with colours intentionally weaving through all five colourways, so even something as simple as a poo caddy needed to feel completely at home across the collection.
I wanted these to feel clean, sleek and beautifully proportioned against the woven lead pattern, while still giving you the freedom to Switch & Style them however feels most like you. đź’ś
