Your puppy IS already perfect.

Teaching them how to be successful in a human world takes time.

Having so-called toileting ‘accidents’ is normal.
While your puppy may have been used to a certain substrate at the breeder, teaching toilet training in your unique home environment by taking them super frequently to their spot and rewarding them for going in the right place is vital to help them learn.

Using their mouth is normal.
Puppies learn by exploring and use their mouth to test different textures not to mention that chewing is stress-busting for all dogs. Puppies in particular have a developmental need to use their jaws and will be teething soon too. Biting can also be communication, and to avoid bad habits take notes and aim to meet needs in advance.

Many other new puppy challenges can take new parents by surprise too.
Understanding more about normal puppy behaviours can set you all up for success.

Puzzled why some dogs just seem more tuned in? Your dog’s always learning. So in addition to attention building exercises, and intensive conditioning of a recall cue, reinforcing good choices are an essential part of the puzzle! So when your dog CHOOSES to check in or catch up, reward, reward, reward these behaviours!

Working on gradual exposure can be a real investment in your pups ability to cope…
Preemptively play sounds at SUPER LOW volume while providing some tasty snuffle mat snacks. Then nudge the volume up a teeny tiny bit everyday as long as your dog is happily able to tune out the sounds and work on their hobbies. 🎉
