The Fascial Edge Tool

I have been using the Fascial Edge tool for a little while now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of kit. It makes such a difference to using just my hands alone for massage! Some benefits of the Fascial Edge Tool include:
• Concentrating pressure onto a selected area in order to access deeper muscles and structures.
• Very quickly promoting blood flow into cold, tired or injured tissues to promote healing, relaxation and release.
• Allowing pressure to be spread over a wide area, and allowing for whole muscles to be massaged.
• Giving me better tactile feedback than just my hands, by allowing me to either cover a wider area than my hands can , or by reaching deeper into the muscles.
• Allowing for the release of very deep muscle knots, and for releasing sticky tissues that would have otherwise been difficult to reach.

My two certainly love it, and enjoy the release and relaxation that the Fascial Edge Tool can offer!

Despite the scorching weather, our four-legged friends still need exercise, but providing adequate exercise is hard without of risking dehydration and heat stroke! It's important to keep your dog safe in the sun!

☀️ Avoid the hottest times of the day (currently 10am to 8pm).
☀️Stick to the shade, and test surfaces such as sand and asphalt for 10 seconds before allowing your dog to walk on them. If it's too hot for your hand, it can burn their paws!
☀️ Offer your dog access to cool, fresh water throughout the day.
☀️ Provide them with a paddling pool, cooling mat or some damp towels.
☀️ If you are worried your dog is overheating, don't wait- call your vet for help!

We made the most of our day by getting up early to head to the beach at 6am, and enjoy a good run in the shallows!

Stay safe everyone! 😊

My two superstars enjoying a good massage and stretching treatment after a few very intense days at horse camp recently!

Both of them thoroughly enjoyed some pampering after working so hard, and will definitely enjoy another massage before they go back into work after being rested!

Spaces for massage treatments are available throughout July and August, and in the meantime I hope everyone enjoys the heatwave! 😃

The importance of rest days.

I only have 3 weeks to go until my 2nd year final exams, and for a post-exam treat myself and the horses are booked in for a 3 day XC and jump camp; we can't wait!

This, of course, made me think of how best I can prepare their bodies for a very physically demanding 3 days, and I have started writing up a mental fitness plan for them and myself to make sure we are all in good shape. And while this plan will include everything from classical dressage movements to gallop work, there is one crucial element which must not be forgotten: our rest days.

Rest days are an important part of any work routine, to ensure that muscles, soft tissues and bones can effectively recover. This helps to avoid excess stress, injury, pain and inflammation in the body, and therefore helps us and our working animals perform at their peak.

I take our rest days as an opportunity to check their entire bodies for any soreness, muscle knots, tightness or weakness. It is also a great opportunity to reward my equines for their hard work using massage and stretching, to make sure their recovery time is as effective as possible.

Maybe next time your horse is in need of some rest and recovery, why not book them in for a massage with us too? Slots are available throughout June!

In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine and ensure you make the most of your rest days!
