🐔 Our next rehome, 15th March, will be caged hens. The photo below is from a previous caged hens rehome taken by one of the volunteers. It's heartbreaking to think this is all these girls know! They deserve a better life than that!! You can help them have the lives they deserve by registering through the website https://freshstartforhens.co.uk/ Thank you 🐔

Looking for a 5⭐️ home for a very sweet bonded pair

Meet Bernadine and Katrina! They were rescued from a free range farm on the 14th December and I kept them back for some much needed TLC but they are now ready to find their forever home.
They are the sweetest pair - I'd love to keep them but I don't have room in my flock and they're stuck in my stable at the moment, not getting the attention they deserve after their poor start in life...

Bernadine - on the day of the rehome she was in a terrible state, so bald and skinny. She was the most terrified hen I have ever seen - she was practically running up my leg trying to get away from the others and was screaming when a hen went near her. It was heartbreaking to see! I separated her immediately and on closer inspection she was covered in scabs, a chunk of her eyelid was missing and she has a block preening gland. She clearly has had a very difficult life at the farm.

Katrina - although well feathered and in much better shape than Bernadine, Katrina was also so scared and was trying to climb the walls. She is a timid little hen so seemed the perfect companion for Bernadine!

To begin with they were terrified of each other, but now they are BFF's. A very bonded pair and I am so please that they have helped each other to be brave again. Due to their very timid natures I think a very gradual, patient integration to a new flock might be needed.

They are both very friendly and happy being picked up. bernadine loves to sit on my leg and they love to follow me around, chatting away. Katrina likes to go to bed at a 'normal' time but Bernadine is keen to party on and gets a bit cross and swears at me when it's time to go to bed 🤣

Neither of them are laying - I was holding them back until they came into lay, but it's been 2 months now so I am not sure if they ever will. So it's very important that I find a home for them where this is not a problem and they will be loved as family pets with no expectation of eggs. They have such cute personalities and I am sure will bring much joy to their new family with their silly antics.

Normal T&C’s and checks will apply (photos of your coop/run/free range area) Please get in touch if you can offer these lovely girlies a wonderful retirement 🐓🐓

Just a quick post to reassure everyone that rehoming is still very much allowed and going ahead... please don't let this put you off reserving hens.
We have unfortunately seen lots of people cancelling their reservations due to understandable confusion around what is and isn't allowed! This is unfortunately resulting in lots of hens potentially losing out on their forever homes and being sent to slaughter instead.
The bird flu situation is ever changing but the current rules apply to birds being brought together from multiple sources and then dispersed again, such as shows or poultry auctions. As the rescue hens are all coming from a single source farm, this does not constitute a gathering. Movement is only completely banned in the circles on the DEFRA map, the darker mauve areas are subject to a housing order (birds to be contained in a covered area) and the lighter pink area is subject to enhanced biosecurity such as use of boot dips and ground sanitizer. Screen shot attached of the map as it stands now, for reference.
Please just get in touch if you have any questions

We had to postpone this weekends rehome (due to very icy roads) to next weekend… so there’s still time to reserve hens if anyone wants some 🐓🐓🐓

Our last rehoming of the year here in Llanfyllin will be on 14th December. There are still many hens that still need to find homes for so please do share the event post with anyone who could be interested.
I am also looking for a volunteer or two to help me with the rehome... if you are interested please get in touch!

Can anyone help out this coming Saturday at the Corwen collection point? I volunteered with Meg who showed me the ropes before opening up our Llanfyllin CP… it’s a full on but fun day, very rewarding to see all the girls off to their new homes! It’s a lot of work for just one person though, so please do consider helping Meg out!

📣WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER? 📣

We have hundreds of ladies arriving this weekend who are thankfully off to their forever homes 🫶🏼. We are reaching out for someone who would be able to pop along and help us on Saturday 23rd November. We will be unloading the girls from crates, feeding and watering them and then loading them into crates and boxes when their new rehomers arrive.

We will be rehoming until it goes dark but don’t have an ETA for the van arrival yet (usually around 11am/midday). We will provide tea, coffee, biscuits and cake! Any help would be fantastic, even if you can only be here to help unload the van and feed them which would take about an hour.

If you think you could help, pop us a message across or send a message to 07446068644 📱.

Meg x

We have 5 large cockerels in desperate need of a home. They were dumped in a field and FSFH Corwen have taken them in but they need to find a new home ASAP.
They are all dark/black with some beautiful green-y coloured feathers too!

They are young/not crowing yet and are all proving to be very chill, nicely behaved lads so we really hope we can find them a nice flock of ladies to look after.
They are currently at Corwen, but we can arrange for them to be delivered to us at the Llanfyllin collection point (or potentially further afield). Please do get in touch, either with me or directly with the Corwen FSFH page x 🐓 x
