It's refreshing to see what you're working with when the ground has been so wet and muddy. Especially those equine friends whom have plenty of feather!

Summer is rocking her stripey socks! 🧦

Also: who doesn't love an adorable donkey?

Four lovely ponies and three sweet donkeys all trimmed up until next visit. 🥰

I owe so much to Jayne.

I am lucky to have a career I love. I'm passionate about my work, clients and the horses I work under.

Jayne was a great tutor and incredibly knowledgeable in her field of expertise. I wouldn't be doing what I do today and wouldn't have half the knowledge that I have learned without Jayne and Richard.

We EPs are a tight nit community. Since receiving the call on Sunday afternoon to tell me that Jayne had lost her life in a road accident whilst riding her horse, I'm certain our community will never be the same again. We'll mourn for her, be grateful for everything she had taught/shared with us and feel for her family, friends and loved ones.

She has saved so many horses through her skill, knowledge and through teaching others.

I hope she knew the massive impact she'd made to so many throughout equine world.

Rest peacefully.

Jayne Hunt

The members of the Equine Podiatry Association have been devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved Jayne Hunt in a riding accident on Sunday 9th July.

Jayne has been at the heart of our community since its inception. With her longstanding friend and colleague Richard Vialls, she established the Equine Podiatry training company delivering the Equine Podiatry diploma. In that role she shared her passion, wisdom and warmth with her students. So on Sunday afternoon, in the blink of an eye, our association not only lost our warmest, funniest and most generous member, we also lost our teacher, our mentor and our dear friend. Her favourite answers to our inevitable student questions were ‘it depends’ (to almost any Equine Podiatry question) and ‘it’ll be fine’ (to any set back or problem) and those refrains still echo with us now she’s gone.

We will be forever grateful for her life, and that she had the foresight and bravery to follow her passion for this profession. We’re thankful that she and Richard brought their dream of establishing a professional Equine Podiatry qualification to fruition, when two years ago the Equine Podiatry Training course was accredited by LANTRA as a Level 5 qualification. It is a comfort to us that she achieved this long held ambition before her untimely death.

Living her life as she did, Jayne influenced and changed so many lives for the better: from her clients, we podiatrists, and the horses that bring us all together. We are so thankful for the time we had with her and wish we had had much more, she will be profoundly missed by us all.

Here's one of my youngest clients. This young man works away very quietly with his pony, gives her the time she needs to process and his liberty comes so naturally.

Here we are discussing sole exfoliation after he noticed the little lines along her soles. He's very switched on and super observant with his equine family. 🤍🥰🐴

This beautiful big boy is often such a wriggle monkey, but today he was so relaxed. So chill in fact, that he had no intention in moving his leg off the hoof stand. Soaking up the warm weather 🥰♥️

The lovely Jerry, he had a lot to contend with today! 🥰

The lovely Jerry, he had a lot to contend with today! 🥰

Today, my lovely new equine podiatrist Kim from Celtic Hooves - Equine Podiatry (https://m.facebook.com/celtichooves/) came and made my feet look pretty. Today was an "all go" day. We had delivery lorries, neighbours saying hello, chickens passing through and the Wooster dog barking for a long time. M says she's very proud of me because I just stood there and lifted hooves despite all distractions. I would have liked to sniff the Wooster dog, but he disagreed on that idea. Love Jerry

Here's myself and our 'small but mighty' Fjord, Odin at the Petplan Area Championships today!

We only affiliated five months ago and having only ridden five affiliated tests, today we flew the flag for barefoot and those who don't quite fit the dressage stereotype!

We cherished every moment of it, coming 11th place out 35!

What a glorious day yesterday! Had a day trimming lovely horses with great clients, and met some new faces.

At my final appointment, I was treated to a delicious ice cream and a wander amongst the beautiful sunflowers @ Porth Farm.

I'm definitely going to head back soon with my big puppy to check it all out and adventure through the maize maze!

If you're looking for something to do, take a trip to Caersws in beautiful Mid Wales and check it out!

This is so exciting!!

I trained with Equine Podiatry Training Ltd and I'm a fully qualified member of the Equine Podiatry Association, which as of today is a recognised LANTRA accredited qualification level 5 (the equivalent of an HND/foundation degree)!!

I'm so pleased for those involved in making this happen, as this has been a mammoth task!

How exciting for the future of barefoot practitioners to have this course available! 🐴😍

I have such wonderful clients. Their humans are pretty great too!

This gorgeous, gentle soul is living his best life! He has bags of patience, so long as you don't mind pausing between feet for a bit of a scratch or a cuddle!

Check out the abscess exit that has grown down nicely from the coronet band. I find abscesses so satisfying to monitor as the hoof wall grows and there is eventually no blow hole left!

Hooves really are amazing!
