To celebrate our 10th birthday, we're doing something seriously special. And you're invited.

Join us on 15 and 16 August at Weston-Super-Mare for the ProDog Beach Fest 2026. A full weekend bringing together leading canine professionals, incredible activities, and frontline charities. All dedicated to one thing: giving dogs the absolute best life possible.

Run. Jump. Sniff. Fetch. Taste. Explore. Swim. Play. Thrive.

Whatever your dog loves, or hasn't tried yet, there's a have-a-go session waiting for them. From dock diving and agility to flyball, scent trailing, canicross and beyond, every activity is open, informal, and built for dogs to just get stuck in.

And when your dog needs a breather, head to the ProDog Wellness Zone. With special guest Dr Nick Thompson alongside our canine professionals covering physio, nutrition, behaviour, canine massage and much more, every session is designed to give you practical, take-home dog life hacks that make a real difference.

Every activity delivers fun and fulfilment for your dog, or genuine learning for you. Sometimes both.
And it's all for seriously good causes. Funds raised go directly to the organisations doing the work that matters most: rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs across the UK.

Seriously good fun. Seriously good causes. Seriously good dogs.

Titer testing is often misunderstood in clinical practice, with several common myths influencing how it is perceived and used.

In a recent article published in DVM360, key misconceptions around antibody testing are explored, along with the facts that support its role in veterinary medicine.
Clarifying these points can help support more informed clinical decision-making when evaluating immune protection.

How reliable is VacciCheck? Let’s look at the data πŸ‘‡

A large North American study (563 canine samples) evaluated a point-of-care titer test against gold-standard lab methods for core vaccines (CAV, CPV, CDV).

πŸ“Š The results:
βœ”οΈ Sensitivity: ~96%
βœ”οΈ Specificity: up to 94%
βœ”οΈ Overall accuracy: up to 95.9%

What does this mean in practice?
VacciCheck shows strong agreement with reference lab methods making it a reliable, rapid screening tool for assessing protective immunity.

🐾 For clinicians, that means:
β€’ Smarter vaccination decisions
β€’ Avoiding unnecessary revaccination
β€’ Reducing risk of adverse events

Quick results are important- but reliability is essential.

The risk of Brucella Canis infecting a member of my profession is low, but it should always be taken seriously. As this article published recently at a human infectious diseases conference shows.

This vet was extremely poorly with serious symptoms caused by Brucella Canis but, most importantly, had had no high-risk exposure to known positive dogs, beyond those who were patients she looked after.

This is why it is so important that imported dogs are tested, and confirmed negative, before they enter the UK. This is now mandatory for those travelling from Romania but a responsible importing organisation will do this for dogs from other high-risk countries as well.

It is also why a repeated test must be performed after the dog has been in the UK for three months, to ensure any who may have been developing the infection during the first testing period, are identified.

A positive result doesn't mean your local clinic won't care for your dog, but it does mean they know to put extra precautions in place to keep their staff safe.

To my colleague, (who, I must be clear, I do not know but we are all peers in this profession) I sincerely hope you are doing better now and I am very sorry this happened to you.
