🐴🐴Equine Influenza Vaccination Amnesty🐴🐴

With Equine Influenza still being seen in most areas of the UK, we have been able to arrange an amnesty for new starters or lapsed users. The amnesty is supported by Boehringer and applies to their the Proteq Flu range. The amnesty runs for a period of 1 month 🐴🐴

🐴🐴 This applies to previously unvaccinated horses or horses whose vaccinations have lapsed. The primary vaccination needs to be booked in to start between Monday 8th June to Wednesday 8th July🐴🐴

🐴🐴 When your horse starts a primary flu vaccination course during this period, the second vaccination will be provided free of charge.
🐴🐴The second vaccination will be administered 4 weeks after the first vaccination.

🐴🐴 Visit charges still apply.

If you are already booked in and your horse fits the criteria, the amnesty will apply, however, unfortunately we are not able to backdate any previous vaccinations under the strict rules of the scheme.

The aim is to encourage vaccination to a wider population to help protect all horses in the area.

Our Vet Rob had the pleasure of visiting this lovely mare and foal, earlier this week.

The mare is a rare breed Eriskay and has produced a lovely filly this year.

Their owner has used the Sparks system of choosing a stallion, whereby they selected a green match between the 2 ponies, ensuring the strengthening of the Eriskays genetics.

The ponies are on average about 12.2hh. Very inquisitive and friendly. Can be used as riding ponies or pack ponies etc. They are extremely rare with only 10 foals registered in the world last year. A breed to not let become extinct.

How lovely to see a rare breed continuing and we hope to see more in the future.

Thanks Jo ❤️
