Today on World Pet Memorial Day, we remember the horses and ponies who carried us through life with strength, trust, and unconditional companionship.

Though they may no longer be by our side, the memories made in the saddle, the quiet moments in the stable, and the bonds we shared will stay with us forever. ❤️🐴

Feel free to share a photo or memory of the special horses and ponies you’ll never forget.

Vet Mia was out and about with our digital X-ray machine the other day. Being able to take high-quality X-rays and produce the images directly at the yard allows for rapid assessment and diagnosis, helping us make informed decisions about your horse's care.

Wizard underwent a full lameness work-up, including nerve blocks and diagnostic x-rays to help identify the source of discomfort and guide the most appropriate treatment plan 🐴

If you have concerns about your horse's movement or performance, don't hesitate to get in touch with the team 📞

A fantastic weekend of polocrosse with Celyn Polocrosse club in Cheshire. Great sportsmanship, teamwork and horsemanship on display! 🐎🏑

We were proud to provide on-site veterinary support throughout the event. Our vet Mia was on hand to ensure the horses and ponies stayed safe and well cared for during the competition ⭐️

Thank you to Celyn Polocrosse club for inviting us, it's always a privilege to support these incredible equine athletes.

Well done to everyone who competed — we look forward to the next one!

Meet Kerrie, she is 30 years young! 🐴

She had been losing weight and quidding hay, so vet Mia went out to give her a full check-up and carry out some dental work. 2 large teeth were removed after tooth root decay caused them to loosen, this is common in our golden oldies and is why regular dental care is so important 🦷

Our older horses should be having biannual dental checks to help catch any issues early and keep them comfortable, healthy and enjoying their food for years to come ✨

Back pain or poor saddle fit can affect any horse in work, from competition to leisure horses🏇

You may see subtle signs that indicate discomfort such as:
🐴 resistance under saddle
🐴 shortened stride or uneven movement
🐴 changes in behaviour (grumpiness, reluctance to be tacked up)
🐴 muscle loss or soreness along the back

A poorly fitting saddle creates pressure points, restricts movement and can lead to long-term issues if left unaddressed. Regular saddle fit assessments and back examinations are essential to keep your horses comfortable, performing at their best and enjoying their work!

Our team works alongside your saddle fitter and physiotherapist to ensure your horse receives the best care💚

‼️Equine Influenza‼️

Many of our clients will be aware that there is an increase in the number of reported equine influenza outbreaks in the UK.
Symptoms to look out for :
🐴 Dry cough
🐴 Fever
🐴 Nasal discharge
🐴 Loss of appetite

Even if your horse doesn't travel or compete you should consider vaccinating them, there may be other horses nearby which do travel. Did you know Equine influenza virus can travel up to 3 miles under favourable wind conditions!

- In order to minimise the risk to your horse make sure your vaccinations are up to date 💉
- If you compete or travel regularly consider bringing your horse onto a 6 month vaccination plan or bringing your annual booster forward to ensure optimal cover during this time.
- If you are mixing with other horses at shows and lessons do not share equipment such as water buckets 🪣
- Don’t travel with any horse that may seem unwell and check temperatures of horse before and after attending a competition🌡️
- Any new arrivals on a yard should be quarantined for at least 2 weeks

When competing please check the vaccination rules of your governing body

We often hear this ... not quite right?

Is your horse struggling to pick up the canter on one lead? Or showing subtle changes in stride, stiffness or reluctance?

Sometimes the signs of lameness or discomfort are very subtle, but they can affect performance.
Early detection can make all the difference so look out for:
🐴 Shortening of the stride
🐴 Difficulty in transitions
🐴 Uneven rhythm
🐴 Reluctance on one lead
🐴 Swelling or heat in the joints

Our team are here to help you identify the problem before it becomes serious!
