🧡 Meet Ginge 🧡

This handsome old ginger boy’s story could have ended very differently…

North Wales Locksmiths contacted us after discovering a cat going in and out of a property through a cat flap. Concerned for his safety, they didn’t want to board the house up with him trapped inside — or leave him locked outside with nowhere to go.

Kelly went straight over to help 🚙💨💙

When scanned, Ginge’s microchip was registered to a gentleman who had reported him missing… 15 years ago. Sadly, the phone number was no longer active, so Kelly visited the address on the chip, where new owners explained that the previous owner had moved into a nursing home.

After knocking on several nearby doors, Kelly eventually tracked down the nursing home and was able to contact the owner’s daughter. Unfortunately, she wasn’t in a position to take Ginge in and signed him over into our care.

The following day, North Wales Locksmiths called again. Another man had been trying to reach us — the son of the lady who had actually cared for Ginge for the last 15 years. Tragically, she had recently passed away, but for the past two years he had continued visiting every day to feed Ginge after hearing that “the RSPCA lady” had collected him.

It was clear he truly cared for Ginge, but he knew his own circumstances wouldn’t give this elderly boy the peaceful life he deserved.

And now… Ginge has found exactly that🧡

At 20 years old, Ginge is now settling into his retirement home with the wonderful Debbie, who has opened her heart and home to him.

Very few people would take on a 20-year-old cat, but thanks to Debbie, Ginge can now enjoy his golden years safe, warm and loved 😻

Thank you to everyone who helped this special old boy along the way🐾

💙A little rescue story from Llandudno this week 💙

We were contacted by staff at Llandudno General Hospital about a gull who was being picked on by others and struggling to get away. Kelly headed straight out, safely caught him and took him for a vet check, thankfully apart from the head wounds he was otherwise in good health.

After a week of rest, good food and quiet recovery with Kelly, he found his strength again. Today he was released back to the wild at the beautiful RSPB reserve by the Conwy estuary — a safe place to stretch his wings and settle back into the rhythm of gull life.

Thank you to the member of hospital staff who took the time to call. Small acts of kindness make all the difference for animals in need 💙

Did you know……… RSPCA Aberconwy is an Independent Charity that raises money to fund and operate affordable services for local pet owners?
We want to clear up a myth:
RSPCA Aberconwy is an independent branch of the RSPCA. This means that while we adhere to the high standards of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, we are financially and operationallyindependent.
❌ We are NOT funded by the National RSPCA whose focus is the most severe cases of animal cruelty; lobbying and animal welfare policies ❌ We are NOT part of Bryn-y-Maen- who provide shelter and care for serious cases of cruelty and neglect and are funded and managed by National RSPCA ❌ We do DO NOT receive government funding

✅ All our efforts are focused on the welfare of local animals ✅ We have a direct community impact as a safety net for pets and owners ✅ We are responsible for raising every penny we spend ✅ We rely on local volunteers ✅ When you donate to our shops, buy from our shops and donate at our local events, 100% stays in Aberconwy for local animals in need ✅ There is so much more we want to tackle but limited by the level of funds we can raise ✅

🧶 A Shout‑Out to Our Wonderful Community

We’re lucky to have a generous lady who knits soft, cosy blankets for the comfort of our animals in care. Her handmade blankets bring warmth and reassurance to those who need a little extra care while they’re with us.

But she’s now running very short of wool — and we’d love to help her keep those needles clicking!

If you or anyone you know have unwanted wool tucked away, please drop it off at the clinic during opening hours:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Every ball of wool helps create another blanket — and another moment of comfort for an animal in need 💙

As a small, separately registered charity from the National RSPCA, we are entirely responsible for raising our own funds to continue helping animals in our community. Every donation, Facebook share and act of support helps us respond when local animals need help.

Thank you for standing with us — and with the animals who need us most 💙

🐾 A recent BBC investigation has uncovered shocking cases of animal cruelty linked to online “rescue” scams, where animals are deliberately harmed or neglected to generate donations. Make sure you know that the charity is the who they say they are and what they do. For example, you can check any legitimate charity in the UK on the Charity Commision website. For international charities, it can be harder to confirm who they are and whether the videos shown truly reflects what the charity does 🐾

Unwitting donors hand over money to save suffering animals but Ugandan con artists pocket the cash.

🐾 BUY A BRICK TO SNIP! 🐾

We’re building something special… and we need your help to make it happen 💙

At RSPCA Aberconwy, Montgomeryshire & Wrexham Branch, our welfare clinic already supports struggling pet owners with essential non-surgical treatments. But we want to do more.

Our goal is to create an in-house surgical suite so we can neuter more cats, prevent unwanted litters, and improve the lives of animals across our community 🐱✨

To help us get there, we’re launching a fun (and slightly pawsome!) fundraiser…

🧱 Buy a brick and help us build our LEGO® cat!
Each brick you buy brings us one step closer to completing the model and funding our new surgical space.

💛 £1 = 1 brick
💛 £5 = 8 bricks
💛 £10 = 18 bricks

Visit our charity shop, add your bricks to our display, and watch our cat (and our clinic dream!) come to life. Alternatively, help us raise funds to offer surgical treatments by visiting our website at https://www.rspca-aberconwy.org.uk/home/how-you-can-help

Every single brick helps us move closer to a future where more cats can be neutered, reducing suffering and giving them a healthier start in life.

🐾 Together, we can build better lives for animals 🐾

Come and get involved, leave your name on our supporter board, and be part of something truly meaningful 💙

🐾 💙 Ever wondered what it’s like to volunteer with us? Dianne, one of our dedicated shop volunteers, explains why giving a little time can make such a big difference—for animals and for you too 💙🐾

“The best part for me of being a volunteer for the RSPCA is the genuine feeling that you are contributing to the much needed welfare of the animals. They can’t ask for help, but by being a volunteer and helping to raise funds, ensures that they can be provided for when they most need it.

I absolutely love animals, always have done, and giving a few hours of my time, is honestly very very rewarding in the knowledge that help will always be there for them. There is a great team spirit amongst us volunteers, I thoroughly enjoy helping in the shops, it really isn’t hard work, there is no pressure at all, and we get to meet some really lovely people. We are thank goodness a nation of animal lovers, and the satisfaction of helping to raise funds for such a worthy cause is such a good feeling, I just love my days as a volunteer” 💙💙💙

A lovely example of teamwork across rescues in action 💙Huge thanks to the Caernarfon Mobile Team (Llinos, Aimee, Wendy & Ricky), Rhian, Kelly and Kim at RRR Wildlife for stepping in to give these two ducklings the care they needed. Thanks to everyone working together, these little ones now have a safe and bright future ahead 🦆🌿

Kim has been away and yesterday she landed from her holiday as she was walking down the air bridge We had a message asking if we could take a duckling. Rescue never really stops; there’s always another animal in need of care, rehab, and a bit of extra support.

Kim got her baggage, traveled home, set
up the incubator, and was joined by a tiny duckling she named Dan. Dan had been found trapped between rocks on the beach, with no sign of any other ducks nearby. We got him warm, settled, and offered food. He wasn’t interested at first, but we made sure he had all the TLC he needed.

Fast forward to this morning, and another call came in about another duclking found in an allyway in Abergele so now we also have "Cas" with us too.

Both ducklings are now warm, safe, and starting to eat. Ducklings are so much better when they are not on thier own.

Thank you to our amazing friend Kelly at the RSPCA clinic Llandudno Junction for all her efforts to get these two to safety.
Keep your fingers crossed for these two.

Their commitment means we can continue to provide safe, compassionate care to animals in need across our community. It’s teamwork like this that makes all the difference 💙

💙 Volunteer Spotlight: Clayton 💙

Clayton has been volunteering in our Mostyn Street shop for around a year — and when we asked him what he enjoys most, he didn’t hesitate:

“Doing a nice thing.
I like to talk to customers and help them.”

That simple kindness is exactly what he brings to the shop every week. Whether he’s chatting with regulars, helping someone find what they need, or keeping the shop running smoothly, Clayton is part of the reason our doors stay open — and why local animals get the help they need.

If you enjoy meeting people, being part of a friendly team, or just doing “a nice thing” for your community, we’d love to welcome you as a volunteer too. Even a few hours a week makes a real difference.

As a small, separately registered charity from the National RSPCA, we are entirely responsible for raising our own funds to continue helping animals in need within our community. Every donation, Facebook share and act of support helps us to respond when local animals need help.

Thank you for standing with us — and with the animals who need us most 🐾💙🐾
