Well as foaling season is approaching we look forward in anticipation to our crop of foals. It’s nice to know that people have expressed an interest in what we might bred. Thank you to all those who have and l will keep you in mind

So from now we need to hope the weather improves and the land recovers so we can enjoy the summer and all it offers

Well l am now thinking about what l can highlight next from our stud .

We have four foals due. Between. 30th of March through to the 2nd of June that covers the whole time the stallions were running with the mares I expect to see our mares foaling around mid April to early May time .

The four in foal are:-
1) Plumtree Cinderella
2) Plumtree Miss Dior
3) Plumtree Bunny Girl
4) Golden Button

Cinderella and Miss Dior are in foal to Roanville Hooligan

Bunny Girl and Buttons are in foal to Snelsmore Zabaglione

Obviously l will continue to give updates on these beautiful mares. If interested in these foals l would be open to discussion and tell you about the sire and dams etc.

At the risk of sounding rude ( obviously not intended) l would appreciate that asking the price is your last request as we will not know ourselves until they are born but we know they will be of good quality and we can guarantee they will get the best start in life.

Visits can also be organised for prospective buyers so you can link up with the baby from the start.

What a wonderful way to wrap up 20 weeks of "Pony of the Week"! Zabby is a truly special stallion, and it’s clear he’s already made a big impression on our herd and our heart.

It feels quite a milestone to have shared these stories for nearly half a year. We hope our updates have painted a vivid picture of the care and passion we put into our breeding program.

Highlights of Snelsmore Zabaglione (Zabby)

• The Perfect Temperament

He is “soppy" and gentle . A stallion, having that kind nature is such a vital trait to pass down to future generations. Zabby has the kindest heart in abundance.

• The Dynamic Duo:

The image of Zabby and Roanville Hooligan playing "zoomies" together is delightful and we believe it is a testament to our management and the fantastic breeding that our stallions can coexist as best buddies.

• The Breeding Future:

With his "chunky" build and black coat, he has been a handsome addition. It’s exciting that his first foals are due what seems so soon! We are aware that April and May will be here before we know it.

• Future Star:

Aiming for the show ring when he’s fully grown and matured probably at around 6 or 7 yrs old . Yes, we have to show great patience but l think this is right for him letting him "fill out and mature fully first”, this will surely pay off when he finally makes his debut.

We hope we’ve given our followers a real insight into the personalities that make up our stables—from the cheeky characters to the gentle souls like Zabby.

Eagerly Anticipating:

Those April/May foals will be the "grand finale" to Zabby’s first chapter with us. We can’t wait to see if they inherit that "gung ho" spirit or his "soppy" sweetheart nature but time will tell !

After a year-long search for a stallion that was SA Clear, Hooligan was the "clean slate" the stud was looking for.

• Proven Sire:

He has already sired the stunning Emmarr Valentina, a dun filly who has proven her quality in the ring with two wins from two outings.

• Gentlemanly Nature:

Known for being an "absolute gentleman" with his mares and living peacefully with his stallion best friend, Zabaglione.

• Show Success:

A champion youngster in SPSBS (Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society) shows.

🍎 Personality Quirks

Despite his stunning looks and impeccable manners, Hooligan has a relatable funny side:

• The "Fidget Bum":

He can’t seem to stay still for long.

• Food Motivated:

The only guaranteed way to get him to pause his constant movement is with his dinner!

For us to have such a dedicated approach to breeding, prioritizing health and temperament alongside beauty is paramount. We feel Hooligan definitely has a very bright future ahead of him.

What can I say about our most recent purchase that the Shetland fraternity hasn’t already whispered? Jambarrie Mahrani, our stunning buckskin filly, has truly been the icing on the cake for Emmarr Stud.

A Pedigree of Excellence

Purchased at the Worcester Sales, Mahrani is the half-sister to Jambarrie Adelina, whom we bought the previous year. Both girls made top-price filly foals in their respective sales, with Mahrani standing out as the second-highest price out of 346 ponies.

I remember studying her breeding before the sale; I just knew she was a "very well bred" pony. Coincidentally, her dam comes from a stud I have long admired. It felt like she was always meant to come home to us.

Beauty & Personality

In my opinion, Mahrani is one of the prettiest miniature Shetlands I have ever seen. She is:

• Dainty and Feminine:

A true lady who turns heads effortlessly.

• Independent:

She has a mind of her own and refuses to be rushed—she does things on her own schedule!

• Social:

While her best friend is Valentina, she loves playing "zoomies" with Lola (even if she can't quite keep up with Lola’s "pocket rocket" speed).

Looking Ahead

Our plans for the future are centered around the show ring. Mahrani is totally correct in every way, and we hope her elegance and charm will melt the judges' hearts just as she has melted ours.

Working with her education is going to be a joy. As with all my ponies, her happiness and well-being come first, and I look forward to seeing this elegant lady shine in the spotlight.

Meet Cotmullion Yolanda, our featured pony of the week! This cheeky Skewbald filly joined us early this summer. While the initial plan was for her to stay for just a few months, I’m a softy at heart—I couldn't bear to see her leave, so she is now a permanent part of the family.

Personality & Friendships

Though she’s a slightly different type than the rest of our herd, Yolanda is incredibly well-bred and has settled in perfectly. She has a "best friend" in Adelina, but she’s a social butterfly who loves everyone. You’ll often find her "necking" with the Welsh Section A or playing with the smallest foal.

Don't let her size fool you, though—she’s fast! Her favorite hobby is scooting around the paddock at 100 miles an hour, usually leaving the rest of the herd in hot pursuit about half a paddock length behind. And like any true Shetland, she is highly food-motivated; she’ll happily "help" everyone else finish their dinner if given half a chance!

Show Ring Success

Yolanda hit the show ring once this summer and was a total professional. She travelled alone perfectly and was impeccably behaved, winning one of her classes and taking second in the other. She truly proved that Shetlands are an absolute pleasure to show.

Looking Ahead

We have exciting plans for this friendly girl:
• 2026: A return to the show ring for a few more outings.

• Future: Potentially putting her in foal as a four-year-old.

Whatever the future holds, Yolanda has found her "forever home" here at Emmarr Stud.

With a 100% win record (2 starts, 2 wins), she is already proving to be a force to be reckoned with before she even joins the 5-strong show team next season.

Whether it’s facing a powerful air blower, enjoying her first shower, or walking straight onto a horsebox without practice, nothing seems to phase her.

She clearly has a "big" personality—literally! Her affinity for the massive Shire horses at shows proves she has no idea how small she actually is.

The Serendipitous Purchase

Our connection to Primadiva was certainly meant to be!

• We visited Plumtree Stud three years ago to buy a couple more foals from this fabulous breeder of Miniature Shetland Ponies and were captivated by the mare Plumtree Primadonna.

• A "massive coincidence" occurred when we realized Primadonna was in foal to a stallion we had tried to purchase earlier that year.

• We initially had chosen one foal and wanted to buy this foal unseen, but the honest breeders, Lorraine and Jodie, ( Plumtree Stud) insisted we saw her first, to be sure she was what we wanted they offered us first refusal so we felt safe with that option and consequently didn’t have to wait too long before this bundle of joy arrived

• The moment "Little Diva" was born, her future at Emmarr Stud was decided, and we were even lucky enough to help name her!

Progress at Emmarr Stud

Primadiva's unique spirit has made her a fascinating project:

• Initial Challenge:

Unlike other ponies from Plumtree, Diva was not easy to win over, possessing a strong "Diva spirit."

• Current Progress:

After two years, she has made great strides and is now "almost a willing partner in our loving caring relationship."

• Handling Milestone:

She will now allow herself to be caught, but only if she is allowed to enter the stable first—a massive step forward. I have to say this is her only little quirk , and she is good with everything else , Now we know her quirk we manage her , although there is little to manage and do this accordingly which alleviates stress and frustration for both her and us .

• Halter Shyness:

She loves a fuss in the paddock but keeps her distance if she spies a halter, though she will always follow the others in.

Future Plans

Emmarr Stud has some exciting plans for our spirited filly:

• Showing:

We hope to get her to a few shows in 2026, believing she will be an exciting prospect.

• Breeding:

We would eventually love to have a foal from her, but there are no current plans in place.

We believe Primadiva has a great career ahead of her, both in the ring and eventually as a broodmare !

We truly adore the beautiful filly and she is a big part of our family

Here are a few highlights

• Smart and Joyful:

Hermione is one of the smartest foals we’ve ever seen and brings pure joy to the yard.

• Distinctive Mark:

Her name is inspired by her distinctive strike mark near her shoulder.

• Memorable Arrival:

The coincidence of a champion horse that l was judging the same day we bought Hermione being named after a Dr. Who character also and the lightning strikes encountered on my drive home which seemed to mirror Hermione's mark makes her arrival a truly memorable story!

• Show Ring Promise:

Hermione has started her show career brilliantly, gaining a Second Place and receiving positive comments for her beautiful looks and movement.

• Exciting Future:

We have plans to continue showing her in 2026 and then breed her in 2027, anticipating a lovely foal given her excellent bloodlines.

Emmarr Del Monte

DOB :- 17.05.24

Monte holds the special title of being the first ever miniature Shetland pony born at the Emmarr stud.

• Birth Details: He was born in 2024. His dam was put in foal to the stallion Plumtree George after a previous attempt to buy her in foal did not materialise as bought not in foal. Monte made a surprise, quick appearance in the stable at 04:25 hrs.

• Early Days: Monte was initially a quick learner and very amenable, starting to eat hard food and being led on a lead rope after just three days.

• Confidence & Companionship: As he grew, he became more confident and slightly resistant to input, but this subsided when he got a new playmate, Dream, who is one month younger.

• The Girls: At a year old, the girls in the next paddock became a major source of interest for him.

• Gelding: Monte and Dream were both gelded in early October 2025 to maintain the stud's small number of stallions. The procedure went well.

• Future Plans: They will join the mares after their 8-week post-gelding period, just in time for Christmas. Monte will be given the important job of looking after any future colts (with Dream's help), while Dream is also planned to compete in gelding show classes.
