le more about the dawgsome in my life:

- Guinness is my pup and the main man of dawgsome. You'll see a lot more of him on this page but for now all you need to know is he's the best.
- Ruby is a little shy, so she won't feature as often. But, she's such a lovely, affectionate wee thing and the secret devious ringleader of the pets in my house.
- Guinness and Ruby are former residents of the SSPCA and NCDL, they have their quirks but that's just part of what makes them special.

Just wanted to keep people updated. I have been getting some tests done for my health, as flare ups are happening a lot more frequently. Will hopefully have some answers soon but I apologies for needing to reschedule and cancel some appointments. Thank you for being so patient with me, I hate letting people down, I do need to listen to my body more. I also want to be the best me, I can be towards your little ones.

Any updates, I'll keep you posted. I appreciate you all. 🧡 I will continue to have difficulties as my conditions are chronic. Though working with any many people to get onto a more manageable track. 🥰

🌡️ HOT WEATHER GROOMING ADVICE FROM B**A 🌡️
As temperatures soar above 30°C, B**A urges all professional dog groomers to take extra precautions to keep both pets and themselves safe and comfortable in the grooming salon. Working in hot conditions can increase the risk of heat stress, dehydration, and equipment overheating. Here are essential tips to help you stay cool and groom responsibly:

🔧 Equipment & Tools
Use cooler dryer settings: Avoid high heat when drying. Instead, opt for a low or cool setting and increase airflow where possible. Take breaks between drying sessions if needed.

-Oil clipper blades frequently: Clipper blades can heat up quickly. Apply clipper oil every 10–15 minutes to reduce friction and heat build-up.

-Disinfect & cool blades: Use blade sprays that clean, cool, and sanitise between grooms. Have a backup blade ready to swap if one gets too hot.

-Check tool temperature: Test blades and dryers on your forearm regularly to ensure they’re not too warm for the dog’s skin.

💧 Salon & Environment
Keep the grooming room well-ventilated: Open windows and use fans or air conditioning where possible. Avoid direct sunlight on grooming tables and stainless steel baths.

-Hydration is vital: Keep fresh water accessible at all times for both dogs and staff. Shorten grooming appointments where appropriate to reduce heat exposure.

-Use cooling mats or damp towels: Place them on grooming tables or in holding areas to provide dogs with a place to cool down.

-Mist sprays or cool flannels: A gentle water mist or damp cloth on the paws and belly can help regulate a dog’s temperature.

🐾 Dog Welfare
Recognise signs of heat stress: Excessive panting, drooling, disorientation, or vomiting require immediate attention. Stop grooming and cool the dog gently.

-Adapt the groom: Consider lighter trims or postpone full grooms if dogs appear distressed. Welfare must come before aesthetics.

-Prioritise vulnerable breeds: Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds, double-coated dogs, elderly dogs, and those with medical conditions are especially sensitive to heat. Groom them early in the day or reschedule if necessary.

👩‍🔧 Groomer Wellbeing
Stay hydrated and take regular breaks. Use cooling wristbands or wear breathable grooming wear to stay more comfortable.

Don’t suffer in silence. If your workspace becomes too hot to operate safely, consider adjusting your schedule or hours temporarily.

B**A is committed to promoting best practices in the grooming industry. In extreme temperatures, your professional judgment and care make all the difference.

💬 Stay cool, stay safe — and always put welfare first.

⚠️ Grooms and walks will be cancelled due to heat. Will do pop in visits for those who are working. And grooms will be booked back in as soon as possible.
The welfare of your pets means too much for me to risk it.

I've started to do a gradual return to work at the moment. Walks will be slow paced and likely less dogs to help minimise pulling etc.

Grooms will be less often to begin with, also may take a longer time to do as I need to be careful.

I still have stitches in that are healing, internal wounds will also still be healing! Please be patient with me as I may be returning earlier than I should be, so hoping to ease into it and prevent any injury!

Thanks for the support. 🥰🧡

I have a little procedure happening on the 23rd of April, so I will be off work for a couple of weeks. One week - 10days minimum but as long as I recover okay I'll get back as soon as I can without causing more harm!

Thank you for all your patience. And shall keep everyone updated regarding time off once I've had the procedure.

🧡

Hoping everyone had a lovely Christmas and New year! I am back as of the 9th Jan. Thank you to everyone for the support last year. December became quite a horrid month. 4 members of the Dawgsome family crossed the rainbow bridge. Each of which broke my heart. Please give your babies an extra tight hug.

Sleep tight Rusty, Ozzy, Tohri and our pack leader Lola. I will miss you all.

⚠️Due to my recent diagnosis I have decided it's in my best interest to make some major changes to the business.

I will now only be working Tuesday to Friday.
So shall be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Mobile grooming will stop effective immediately. However still grooming I won't be able to go to people's homes.

These choices were far from easy, I just can't physically keep working the way I was. I am so sorry to all those this will inconvenience, I am in awe of those who have been so kind with all this. I appreciate you all. 🧡

I have unfortunately been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last week. I've been told I need to make changes to my work load and routine to be able to allow my body to rest and heal.

At the moment I'm not sure what changes I'll be making but I will keep everyone up dated.

I do think mobile grooming may be a lot less frequent and will likely work more from my own place. I will likely work less hours and possibly work 4 days instead of 5. Though I'll be messaging people directly that this affects..

So sorry if I let people down, I just can't keep pushing myself through it as it's just making me worse.

Appreciate you all. 🧡

Just a little update on the car situation. Unfortunately it's still not repaired, had hoped for it to be ready today, however once I arrived the garage has found more faults. It may be a couple more weeks. I am so sorry for all the inconvenience. You guys have been amazing and I can't thank you enough for your patience and understanding. As soon as I can get back to some form of normality the better!
