Our priorities are: collecting and kennelling stray dogs found in Knowsley, promoting responsible dog ownership and taking action on irresponsible dog owners.

Please Note: For urgent dog warden matters, do not use this page - call the council on 0151 443 4712. Dog wardens collect stray dogs and try to reunite them with their owners as quickly as possible. You can find out more information of reporting a stray dog, reclaiming a dog and the fees here https://www.knowsley.gov.uk/environment/environmental-health/dogs/stray-dogs

If a dog is dangerously out of control please contact the Police. You can find out more information on dangerous dogs and animal crime here https://www.merseyside.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ac/animal-crime/

This page is monitored between Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm excluding bank holidays. You can report an issue with dog fouling here https://www.knowsley.gov.uk/environment/environmental-health/dogs/dog-fouling

They are now safe and cosy in kennels, they were both microchipped but sadly out of date.

If these are your dogs, please contact either ourselves on 0151 443 4712. or Manchester Dogs Home as they are now in their care - 0300 102 1212.

We've heard it all before. But we won't budge, the only costumes dogs should wear for Halloween are their birthday suit. 🎃

Dogs may not enjoy costumes because they can feel restrictive, uncomfortable or unfamiliar.

Read our advice on why pet costumes are never a good idea. 👉 https://bit.ly/4eWi5Ji

[Image description: This is an infographic with text and cartoon illustrations of dogs. The text says 'Walk your dog before dark and don't leave them alone in the garden. Don't force them to wear a costume or receive unwanted attention. Keep human sweets hidden. Make them a safe space to retreat. Drown out spooky sounds with music or TV. Take extra tasty treats on walkies to distract your pooch and avoid trick-or-treaters.]
