It's been a minute 🤭👋🏽💚

We had an absolutely horrible time over the weekend where sadly one of our babies was killed by a rat in the night, and the other 3 suffered some pretty nasty injuries. After an emergency trip to a very nice farm vet, some pain relief and some antibiotics they all seem to be on the mend.

Syrax (most black) suffered the worst injuries with bites to her neck, back, and the joint of her wing, and is slowly recovering although she's still quiet and isn't gaining as much weight as the others over the last few days, which I'm hoping is more down to the stress, she did seem to be quite happy outside.

Today is their first time stretching their legs outside again since losing their sister. And it felt like the right time to name them, having lost her without even giving her a name.

I'd have probably named her Meleys, brave girl fought hard to protect the others 🪽

Happy 7th Birthday to our first baby boy 🐻

We celebrated with a dog birthday party before nursery and then snacks in the garden whilst the small human was in nursery 🥳

🐣 After our first month of learning how to incubate our eggs ended in a failed hatch...

This month; over the weekend we hatched 4 of 4 incubated eggs

Currently labelling them all as 'she' to manifest as many females as possible to get our flock comfortable ✨🤞🏼

Any males will be rehomed to new flocks once they're fully feathered (and recognisable as males) 🦆

Dushane

Definitely overheard me saying if we had to balance out the duck numbers for any reason because the boys do squabble over the girls, that Dushane would be the one to go....because he's a n**head, always picking fights with Summerhouse Sully while poor Modi stands in the middle trying to break it up and the girls just frolic in the background...

But then he conveniently developed a limp today, so had to catch him (fun), got covered in blood, bathed him, find out he'd just pulled a nail, a fairly easy dry and trimmex job to stop the bleeding...

But now me and the little n**head are besties and he can never go anywhere 💚🦆
