Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Registered Charity Number 1157210 is a small foster home based animal sanctuary in the Merseyside area, set up in July 2013. We primarily focus on rescuing unwanted/stray cats and rabbits, however we will aim to help any animal in need. We currently have several foster homes

We have a strict non-destruction policy and will keep every animal in our care until a forever home can be found. We carry out home visits on prospective new homes, this is to ensure that the area is safe/suitable and also provide a time for advice on adopting a rescue pet and answering any questions the prospective owner has. Home visits are not to look at how clean a house is or
what the decor is like! All Rescue Me animals are deflea'd, wormed, microchipped, neutered (if the animal is too young, he/she will be recalled for neutering). Our philosophy is to accept an animal into our care based solely on its need and not on any other physical characteristic, providing we have a suitable foster home free. We believe that by looking after a rescue pet in a home environment we are able to fully assess the animal, understand its needs and the type of home he/she will require and ultimately match them to a suitable home. We are very excited about our new venture but currently only have a handful of volunteers, with more support we can achieve things faster and rescue even more needy animals...please come and join us, we'll welcome you aboard!!! 🐶🐾Say Hello to Caleb! 🐾🐶

Caleb is 7 year old Romanian dog who sadly has seen himself back with us for a 3rd time through no fault of his own. 😞

Caleb is a sensitive boy with that Romanian rescue spirit—cautious at first, but full of love once trust is earned. Once Caleb bonds with you, his loving personality really shines through. He adores human company, seeks out closeness, and LOVES being fussed over. He’s incredibly affectionate with his trusted people and just wants to be by your side. ❤

Caleb does best in a calm, low-energy environment with minimal distractions. He can be reactive to strange noises and unfamiliar people, so he needs a space where he can feel secure and not overstimulated. We feel that over the time that he has been back with us he has very much mellowed and is a fantastic dog in the right environment. It’s not just about people who could welcome Caleb into their homes – because once he trusts you, he is an absolute dream - but with him, the right TYPE of home would be key to him settling in, not just the person.

He would thrive in a home that is:

✅ In a quiet area (away from busy roads, loud neighbours, or frequent visitors)
✅ With someone who understands anxious or sensitive dogs and can offer patience, structure, and reassurance
✅ Secure private garden
✅ Pet and child free home.

For potential adopters, building a bond with Caleb means taking things slow and letting trust grow naturally. A few visits to the rescue centre for meet and greets will make all the difference. With each visit, Caleb will start to recognize a familiar face and begin to feel more comfortable with that person.

Caleb is house trained, and walks very well on a lead, but does best in quiet areas with no other dogs as he can be reactive towards those unfamiliar to him.

Caleb is on Fluoxetine for anxiety, and this has helped him tremendously. We can provide a supply of this to cover him over a settling in period and it may be that once settled in a home he can come off it, but he may need it long term. We would be happy to supply it, but he would need to come back to us for 6 monthly check-ups. Caleb has recently had a dental and is fully recovered. He is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and parasite treated.

His adoption fee is £275 and all homes will be fully vetted.

Princess Zula is 14 weeks old and is looking 👀 for her forever home.

Zula is a very vocal little girl especially if you are late serving dinner, you can expect to be scolded! Zula absolutely loves her food and when it comes to chicken… well let’s just say she doesn’t share! Zula adores the resident male cats in her foster home and is very good friends with the house rabbits, she is a little sweetheart and her purr button is activated as soon as she is touched.

Zula is in foster in Toxteth with resident cats and house rabbits and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and is fully vaccinated. Zula had cat flu when she first came into us. We have, of course, treated her for this but there may be a flare-up, with sticky eyes, with the stress of the move to a new home. This will clear in a day or two and she will, hopefully, grow out of it as her immune system develops. There is, however, a small chance that she may not. This means that and resident cats in her new home should be fully vaccinated.

Nimble and Sleek the very elegant Zita Purrdita is 14-weeks old and is looking 👀 for her forever home.

Zita Purrdita is a very pretty, friendly affectionate girl. However, she can be quite shy when she first meets you, once she gets to know you and trust you, she loves to snuggle up to you in bed😻. She responds to strokes with the loudest purr and loves head rubs and massages.

😻❤️THE LOVELY L LITTER ARE LOOKING 👀…….🏡🐾

The adorable L litter kittens are 10-weeks old are ready to find their forever homes.

LELU - is a happy shy kitten, who is smaller than her siblings but she doesn’t let her size define her! She is more than happy to play fight with her siblings and is happy to receive cuddles and kisses. Lelu seeks comfort and affection from teddies 🧸 and fluffy blankets. She will happily cuddle her siblings.

LOTTIE - is an affectionate girl, who will come running over for cuddles and will happily sit on her fosterer’s shoulder whilst watching TV. Lottie loves to play rough with her siblings and will play with her fosterers. Be careful, as she can get over excited and will nip and scratch but it’s only out of love ❤️

LEO - the lion 🦁is the leader of the pack and will do everything in his power to protect his siblings. He will give up his food 🍲 for the others and move to a different bowl. Leo loves belly rubs and will come over for cuddles and loves to play and run about.

LIBBY - is a shy girl who will be scared at first but will settle quickly with lots of cuddles and kisses 😽. Libby is incredibly playful and will curl up in bed with her humans. She also loves to climb up high and sleep on the climbing tower.
Like a few kittens, Libby had ‘swim legs’ when she first came to us. These have improved greatly, as she has grown and her muscles have become stronger. They will continue to improve as she grows and gets stronger. Our vet has signed her off for rehoming and does not foresee there being any ongoing issues. She just, currently, has out-turned back feet🐾

LENNY - is a sweet boy, who spends his time running around all day and playing with his brother and sisters. Lenny is affectionate and loves to be picked up and cuddled.. 🥰. He is very fast and his new family will need to be careful opening doors as he will run out and speed away!

The kittens are in foster in Netherton and have been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and have had their first vaccinations. They can be homed with friendly resident cats, children aged 5-years+ and are young enough to get used to a calm cat-savvy dogs.

The A Team are 14-weeks old are ready for their forever homes.

APOLLO - likes to play with balls 🎾 and springs. He loves his food and snacks.

ARTEMIS - is a chatty young lady, who also purrs 🚂 like a train. She likes soft toys and looking out of the window.

ARES - loves to chase the ball toy and the mouse 🐭 on a spring. He loves meaty stick treats.

All three kittens adore chasing the laser. They are all playful, friendly affectionate kittens. They also have stunning amber-coloured eyes 👁️. They can be homed with friendly resident cats, children aged 5-years+ and are young enough to get used to a calm cat-savvy dog.

Darling little Purrito is 12-weeks old and is looking 👀 for her forever home.

Purrito is a small and sweet girl, once she gets to know you. She will hiss when strangers approach her but will let them pick her up, if they are confident with cats. She will need an experienced cat owner, prepared to be patient and give her time and TLC.

Purrito does purr a lot, loves cuddles, especially if in a blanket and loves sitting in one of her fosterers’ hoody for a cuddle 😻. She will snuggle her head into one of her humans’ arm or under their chin. She loves her toys 🎾🧸 and is very playful. She can get over excited and play a bit rough if there are hands 👋🏻 nearby but she will happily redirect to her toys.

Purrito was born outside and hadn’t had human contact before she came to us. Her wonderful fosterers have done a fantastic job of socialising her. She can, however, still be a bit wary at times, as mentioned above but her fosterers adore her and say her confidence is building really quickly.

Purrito is a little character. She has shown interest in the resident cats in her foster home and could, therefore, be homed with a friendly resident cat. She isn’t used to dogs and needs a quiet, experienced adult only home. She will need to be crated or kept in a separate room for a couple of days when adopted, to help her settle more quickly. We can advise on this. Purrito needs a Burrito 🌯

🌊❤️ RAVISHING RUSHING RIVER IS READY……🏡😻

River is an independent, sassy 2-year old girly who is looking for a forever family……a family who would love Peggy Mitchell and Regina George in cat form. Could that be you?

River came to us last year after being abandoned outside a pizza takeaway with her two older kittens. She did a great job raising them and they found homes almost straight away but River, understandably, was quite stressed by such an upheaval of being thrown out of her home and left to raise her kittens on the streets. She had very painful, non-healing lip ulcers, as a result of stress and overgrooming. She’s been on medication to clear this up but her new owners should understand that this may recur and she may need further treatment moving home. We can guide options with this and send clinical history to the vets of any potential adopters.

Her fosterer strongly suspects she has only ever been played with using hands and this has been quite rough and unwanted by River. She sometimes confuses a friendly stroke from a human as confrontational and can react by batting. She doesn’t use her claws and, once she trusts someone, this behaviour becomes considerably less. She enjoys being stroked on her head, when she asks to be and scratched gently around her ears. Stroking her spine, tail and pretty much anywhere else is not tolerated….100% in the danger zone ⚠️

River LOVES snuggling up to her trusted humans in bed. She tends to sleep by feet 🦶in bed, but will come to cuddle up under her bed partner’s neck, in the morning, for a head rub. If she likes you, you might even be treated to an affectionate lick or two. She loves playing with toys and loves anything fluffy or with feathers 🪶🧸

River will be a rewarding cat for those willing to give her the effort, time and space she needs. It would be beneficial to know a bit about cat behaviour (or willing to have a read up on it) to help settle her in more and reduce stress levels. River took a few weeks to settle into foster properly and tended to hide away in her carrier until she built her trust and confidence. Lots of hiding places, high up viewpoints and respect for boundaries and personal space will win River over!

Although River has accepted the resident cat in her foster home, she would prefer to be the only pet. She doesn’t like dogs and may boss around any resident cats. Any resident cats would need to be very relaxed, chilled and the time needed to introduce them may take a few months. River wouldn’t be suitable for homes with young children and would need safe outdoor access in her new home. She’s very inquisitive and enjoys exploring outdoors, although doesn’t venture terribly far.

River has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for parasites. River is in foster in Preston and available for meet and greet for any potential adopters. Beautiful little Ruby is 9-weeks old looking for her forever home.

Ruby is an adorable and affectionate little girl who loves nothing more than running around her playroom, playing with toys 🧸🎾 and free-running on every available surface! She is also an expert at ‘Hide and Seek’ and ‘Ninja cat’ 🥷. She is also very good at ‘tapping’ on command! When she’s not using up all her energy, she loves cuddling in her fosterer’s lap or purring away on top of the cat tree.

Being a single kitten, Ruby can be quite full on when playing but is learning well to redirect this energy onto her penguin kickaroo, rather than hands or arms 💪! Due to her energy levels, she would be best going to a child-free home or homes where any children are 8-years old+. Ruby is very food orientated and thinks that her new discovery of Dreamies (other treats are available!) is the best thing EVER!

Ruby could live with a suitable resident cat, who is cat-friendly but also not afraid to tell her off if she needs it. She has never lived with dogs or children but is young enough to get used to a calm, cat-savvy dog and older children.

🐾❤️HUMOUROUS HUED HARLEY QUINN IS HOPING FOR A HAPPY HOME 😻🏡

Beautiful little Harley Quinn, with her many hued, Harlequin ‘motley’ coat is 6-months old and ready to go to her forever home.

When Harley Quinn first came in to us, her bottom incisors were broken and very short. We don’t know how this happened. We have now provided Harley with dental treatment and removed the broken teeth. She has recovered well and there are no ill effects. She eats her food with gusto 🍲!

Harley Quinn settled into her foster home very quickly, making herself at home and comfy straightaway! She is a super friendly and curious girl, really intelligent and alert. She notices every sound, fly and anything she can play with 🪰🧶! She also enjoys watching her fosterers…..

Harley is still a tiny, petite girl. She will happily sit on her humans’ shoulders for a few seconds before she's off to quickly run somewhere else. She is also a chatty, with a quiet meow but lots of brrrrs and squawks! Even though she is mostly confined to her foster room, she had made the most of exploring her foster home, when opportunity has presented itself and facing the resident cat. The poor chilled, laid back lad is confused as Harley thinks she’s the boss!!

Harley is a friendly, playful girl, who would do well in any home but would be great with an active family. She is very gentle and would be good with cat-savvy children. She doesn’t like other cats and we don’t know whether she has ever lived with dogs. Her lucky family will love watching this happy girl grow into a beautiful, settled companion 💖
