I first met Lulu last June. Our initial encounter was a disaster; she was terrified and anxious and would not entertain me in the slightest. I've fostered and rescued for years, and I'd actually just lost my own extremely anxious rescue, Lucy, after her battle against CHF, so I understood that gaining Lulu's trust would take time. We had a lot of meetings over several weeks, and gradually she began to come around to me. I see her fairly regularly and she's always pleased to see me, but today, after not having seen each other for a month (the longest since we've known each other), she was actively dragging her aunt towards me, tail wagging, so so excited to see me and say hello.
There are no words for how wonderful it is to have gained the trust of a little someone who doesn't trust easily (or at all, really). It's humbling and lovely and I'm so proud of her for letting me into her life. ❤️
