Why I keep my group walks small!

At Salt & Paws, I choose to keep my group walks to a maximum of four dogs (unless in a secure field)

This allows me to really get to know each dog’s personality, carefully match walking buddies, and make sure every dog is comfortable, happy, safe and having fun.

I love watching friendships form, confidence grow, and seeing each dog’s unique character shine through on our adventures together.

Small groups mean relaxed walks, plenty of sniffing, lots of exploration, and of course, plenty of fuss and attention.

HOT WEATHER POLICY ☀️

With warmer weather on the way, your dogs’ safety and wellbeing always come first. During periods of high temperatures, walks may need to be adjusted, shortened, moved to shaded areas, replaced with garden visits/sniff sessions, or cancelled altogether if conditions are unsafe.

Please remember that:
🐶 Pavements can become dangerously hot
🐶 Some breeds struggle more in heat (especially flat-faced breeds, seniors & thick-coated dogs)
🐶 Humidity and “feels like” temperature can make conditions much harder for dogs than the actual forecast suggests

I’ll always assess conditions on the day and make the safest decision for each dog individually. In extreme heat, enrichment visits, toilet breaks, sniffy garden time, or secure field sessions may be offered instead of normal walks where possible.

Thank you for understanding that safety will always come first 💛

Please make sure your dog has:
💧 Access to fresh water
🌳 A cool resting area
🧊 Cooling aids if needed
🚫 No walks during the hottest part of the day outside of professional adjustments

With the warmer weather here, it’s so important to adjust how we walk our dogs ☀️🐾

Shorter, cooler walks and plenty of water can make all the difference 💧 This does mean I’m likely to adjust your dogs walks this summer, I will try to walk earlier in the day, in shady areas, or change to shorter walks or pop in visits. I will always do my best to accommodate everyone’s needs and will of course let you know what the plan is for the day ahead on those hotter days.

I’ve got limited morning availability for group walks during the hotter days, perfect for keeping your dog exercised without the risk of heat ☀️
