🦙 WE HAVE A VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY FOR ASPIRING VETS, ZOO KEEPERS & ANIMAL CARE PROFESSIONALS 🦙
Are you considering a future career working with animals?
Calderbrook Alpacas is looking for a hardworking, reliable volunteer to join our team and gain hands-on experience caring for our alpacas and Lambo the sheep.
This opportunity is particularly suited to those interested in veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing, animal management, zoology, wildlife conservation, farming or zoo keeping.
We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to develop practical animal husbandry skills and gain valuable long-term experience. Whilst spending time with the alpacas is certainly a perk of the role, much of the work involves the day-to-day responsibilities that come with caring for animals, including cleaning, feeding, maintenance, welfare checks and general farm duties.
This is not a one-off experience or something to do during the school holidays. Our alpacas thrive on routine and familiar faces, so we are looking for someone who can commit regularly, build a bond with the herd and become a valued member of the team.
Applicants must be available to volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours per week on a Saturday and/or Sunday and be prepared to commit on a regular, long-term basis.
There will be times when you are carrying out tasks independently, so we are looking for volunteers who are proactive, responsible, able to use their initiative and take pride in doing a job properly.
If you’re hardworking, reliable and serious about gaining experience for future study or employment in the animal sector, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV together with a short paragraph explaining why you would like to volunteer at Calderbrook Alpacas and how this opportunity fits with your future education or career goals to [email protected] with the word ‘Volunteer’ in the subject line.
