A new photograph is released today of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s fell pony, Emma.

Emma paid tribute to Her Majesty during the Ceremonial Procession in Windsor on Monday 19th September, ahead of the Committal Service at St George’s Chapel.

For the past fifteen years, Queen Elizabeth regularly rode Emma for light exercise in the grounds around Windsor Castle, during Her Majesty’s private time.

Emma will continue to be much-loved and cared for at the Royal Mews, Windsor, and regularly exercised by its small, dedicated team.

Your horses and dogs WILL NOT BE ACCLIMATISED to these temperatures!

AVOIDING the heat is the best option, especially avoiding EXERCISING in the heat.

There is a VERY REAL RISK OF HEATSTROKE!

If HEATSTROKE is not recognised and treated immediately then there is a VERY HIGH RISK OF PERMANENT INJURY OR DEATH!

-Very hot to touch
-Covered in sweat with prominent blood vessels in skin (horse/human)
-Distressed/Excited/Subdued/Unresponsive
-Seizures
-Unsteady on feet
-Breathing fast (panting) or deeply and laboured (blowing)
-Very dark urine

If you suspect HEATSTROKE then contact a VET or MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL ASAP.

If you only remember COOLING AGGRESSIVELY AND IMMEDIATELY then you may well save a life.

The Met Office has upgraded the weather warning for Essex and other areas of the South East to RED today between approximately 10am and 3pm - this happens very rarely. This means there is a high chance of extremely strong winds causing significant disruption and dangerous conditions, coastal areas and inland too.

Please stay at home if you can - travel only if it is essential. Please make sure that wherever possible your animals are indoors.
