🐾 Monthly May Round-Up 🐾

As always, our photos are themed around whatever’s happening that month, and this time they may have seemed a little dominated by the elections! But if we’re being honest, we’d much rather cast our votes for our canine candidates. 🐶

Their campaign promises? More outdoor adventures, unlimited belly rubs, and treats on tap. Now that’s a manifesto we can all get behind!

So, here’s a little montage featuring some of our wonderful furry friends. If you don’t spot your own handsome boy or beautiful girl this time around, don’t worry—we genuinely choose the photos at random, and sadly we can’t squeeze everyone into a single post.

Nope! And here’s why…

At our salon, deshedding isn’t an optional add-on or luxury treatment—it’s an essential part of caring for many dogs’ coats. If a dog is shedding, those loose hairs need to come out!

Removing dead coat helps to:
✨ Keep your dog more comfortable
✨ Reduce matting and trapped undercoat
✨ Improve airflow to the skin
✨ Keep the coat healthy and in better condition
✨ Cut down on the tumbleweeds of fur rolling around your home (you’re welcome 😆)

Think of it this way: if your dog’s coat needs deshedding, skipping it would be a bit like washing your hair but not brushing out the knots afterwards. It just wouldn’t make sense!

☀️ Sun comes out, coat comes off! ✂️🐶

“Take it all off” has definitely been the biggest request this week, but did you know a shorter coat doesn’t always mean a cooler dog?

For double-coated breeds, that coat actually helps regulate body temperature and protects them from the sun, so shaving it off can sometimes do more harm than good. But a good summer groom—removing dead coat, tangles, and excess hair—can make a huge difference in helping them stay comfortable.

For some dogs, especially those with continuously growing coats or lots of excess hair, a shorter trim can absolutely help them feel cooler and easier to manage in the heat.

Just another totally normal day at work… 👀🦊

One minute you’re trimming nails, the next you’re apparently starring in the Lingfield edition of Crocodile Dundee. 🤠

Huge thanks to the mystery bus passenger who sent us this legendary message after witnessing one of our more enthusiastic visitors attempting to redecorate our face. 😂

Years of experience, nerves of steel, and perhaps a questionable sense of self-preservation all coming together beautifully.

To be fair… the fox (shiba inu actually) was only expressing herself. Loudly. With teeth.

Glad someone appreciated the performance anyway. 👏😂

As much as our dogs love their walks, pavements can become dangerously hot during a heatwave — hot enough to burn sensitive paw pads in just seconds. 💔

If the ground feels too hot for the back of your hand after 7 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws too. 🖐️🔥

Here are a few simple ways to keep your furry friend safe this summer:
🐶 Walk early morning or later in the evening
🌳 Stick to shaded areas or grass where possible
💧 Keep paws cool and hydrated
👟 Consider paw balm or protective booties
🚨 Watch for signs of burns like limping, licking paws, redness, or blisters

A little extra care goes a long way in keeping tails wagging safely all summer long. 💙

This little floofer came in for a deshed…
and wow, did she deshed! 🫣😂

We’re pretty sure the clean-up is going to take longer than the groom itself!

But just look at her now — all that old loose coat is gone, she’s feeling so much lighter, and she’ll be able to regulate her temperature so much better ✨🐾
