Have you heard of handstripping? It's a process mainly used on wire haired breeds such as most terriers, wire dacshunds and others like Rosie, the Basset Fauve de Bretagne. The process involves plucking the top layer of ready hair to reveal the lower, smoother layer. It causes the dog no pain at all if the coat is ready, in fact most of them are very happy to have it done 🥰 It takes regular upkeep to maintain the lovely texture, Rosie had previously been clipped elsewhere so we are working on getting her coat back into shape. I've put a picture of before, during, and after.
