Please do not use a dog home boarder who does not have a LICENCE. Your dog’s welfare is at risk and there will be no insurance so could cost you £1000s.

Join a Facebook group who only have Licenced boarders as members or

It’s that time of year when people are looking for home boarders for their dog so they can have a summer holiday. There are many illegal people out there offering this service without the required Council Licence.

As a Licenced home boarder l find this very frustrating as do other Licenced home boarders who have sacrificed so much to become legal at huge expense and commitment to adhere to government and Defra rules and regulations.

If l am made aware of any illegal dog home boarders l will challenge them. I have, and will continue to do so, report them to the Licensing Inspector. Unfortunately l am also aware of dogs being badly treated by illegal boarders so it is a massive safeguarding issue.

One rule is that l am not allowed to leave the dogs unattended for more than 3 hours a day (including going shopping, dentist etc) l work 7 days a week so forego any weddings, birthday parties, funerals or socialising. To do so l have to keep my diary clear for that day which is difficult to do.

Just a reminder that l am not available to people to just come and have a look. If you book a meet and greet then this is when you complete your paperwork and secure your booking in my diary pending a trial session. During the meet and greet your dog may have a familiarisation session with the dog(s) they will be sharing their holiday with. Meet and greets are free but please appreciate that l have spent time organising and preparing for this session.
