Happy Monday!

How have your dogs been handling the heat?

We’ve been hitting earlier sessions, extra water breaks and shadier routes.

Zero days off, hot or cold, dogs need their time outdoors. Just don’t be a donut about it.

Lots of spaces available this week for afternoon or morning sessions!

Also we’re thinking of adding a 3rd evening pack walk as the sun stays around longer… what ya think?

My long term goal for Fawkes is for her to be able to walk beside me, no leash, at a pace I decide.

This is not an example of that yet. Whilst she is capable after her immediate needs have been met, trying this right out the gate is unrealistic.

Building the foundations. Before we can run we must first learn to walk…or in this case, visa versa.

Fawkes is making great progress on her “out” command

No need for food or additional toys anymore, simply an understanding, she listens, the game goes on

If you can get a Malinois to drop something, you can get any dog to drop anything

To teach a dog anything at all, you first need to help them understand what it is you are asking of them

In an environment full of distraction, you’re setting yourself and your dog up for failure

Start at home, then take it into the driveway, then perhaps to a quiet park, then to a busy town square.
