Well, the wind🌪 definitely blew lots of 💩samples our way today for our Autumn FEC count clinic.
It was lovely to see our regulars and also some new customers come along. 21 horses needed worming out of 66 samples tested.
The weather this year has definitely seen an increase in the medium/high levels of burden, so it's even more important to be up on our field maintenance regime.
As I always I promise, you will get your results the evening of the day tested, so all results have been sent out.
A massive thank you to Michaela for allowing us to hold these clinics at Equisign Tack and Feed. She really is the host with the mostest, wanting the best and giving everything to her customers

A few good seminars listened to on feeding the overweight horse and also the feeding and breeding. Doing cpd allows me to pass on my knowledge and experience to customers.

I've been asked several times recently! If 1 or more of the horses in a herd has a higher count, why do I not worm all of them?

The simple answer in Layman's terms is. One of the reasons we test in the first place is to identify the ones that need treating from the ones that don't. Just like us humans, they all have individual immunity , triggered by different factors, such as age, health conditions, etc.
For example, a group of people go for breakfast. 1 has a bad cold, 3 people later catch the cold. all the others are fine. Its a very similar scenario, with a herd of horses contaminating themselves from the pasture.

The lab will be closed from 🐎 30th July to 11th August.
Please plan ahead and avoid sending samples around theses dates, to allow for all results to be sent out before I go away. There will be no one in the office to answer calls.
