☀️ Important reminder: Don’t let the sun harm your dog! ☀️

We all love warm, sunny days, but did you know the sun can be dangerous for our furry friends? Here’s what you need to know to keep them safe:

⚠️ Heatstroke risk
Dogs can’t cool down as easily as we do. Temperatures rise fast—even in the shade or with a breeze. Leaving them in a car, even for a minute, or walking them in midday heat can be fatal. Signs include heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, or collapsing.

⚠️ Sunburn & skin damage
Yes, dogs get sunburned! Breeds with thin fur, light-coloured coats, or hairless skin are most at risk, but any dog can burn on their nose, ears, belly, and paws. Too much sun leads to sore skin, peeling, and even skin cancer over time.

⚠️ Burned paws
Asphalt, concrete, and sand get incredibly hot in the sun—hot enough to blister and burn paw pads. If it’s too hot for your hand to hold on the ground for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for their paws.

✅ How to keep them safe:
• Walk early in the morning or later in the evening, when it’s cooler.
• Provide constant access to fresh, cool water and shade.
• Never leave your dog alone in a parked car.
• Use pet-safe sun cream on exposed areas if they’ll be out in strong sun.
• Keep them inside or in a cool, shaded spot during the hottest hours (11am–3pm).
