Would it surprise you to know that 90% of the canine body’s serotonin (responsible for balancing mood and contentment) is stored in the intestinal walls? In addition to serotonin many other mood influencing substances are stored here such as;
• Opiates - associated with happiness
• Dopamine - motivational
• Acetyl chloride – associated with memory function
• Tryptamines – govern the awareness of seasonal changes and times
• GABA - relaxes the mind
This really is something to consider when looking at your dogs behaviour. Could their poor behavioural choices actually have something to do with their diet?
Although we are closed we are still here to offer advice and nutritional support 😊
