Ripples Waterlife, Shenstone Based in Shenstone, near Lichfield, in Staffs, we are one of a chain of 3 aquatic stores. At Shenstone, we specialise in all things tropical and pond.

As a company, we have been trading for 25 years, starting in Shropshire, and have now spread into the Midlands and Cheshire. Our stores specialise in everything required to keep koi and garden ponds, and coldwater, tropical and marine aquariums. Shenstone is the smallest of the three stores, which unfortunately means we don't have the space for marine fish. However, we more than make up for this w

ith our fantastic range of pond and aquarium equipment and livestock. We are tropical fish specialists, every one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff being a fish-keeper, and this is reflected in the cleanliness and quality of our displays, the range and quality of our livestock, and the service we provide, which we feel is second to none. Practical Fishkeeping magazine shop-toured us in August 2013, and Nathan called us his "perfect Goldilocks retailer....not too big, not too small, nothing too weird, nothing too mainstream....my only regret is not being able to take some goodies home with me".

Bichirs are an ancient group of fish that, along with reedfish, make up the family Polypteridae. They have been around for more than 330 million years, which means they pre-date the dinosaurs! They come from freshwater habitats in tropical Africa, and possess a pair of lungs that allow them to breathe air from the surface when the oxygen levels in the water are too low. They are largely nocturnal and quite peaceful, but will eat anything that will fit in their mouths!
