KIPPER NEEDS A HOME, NOT JUST VIEWS.

Last week we shared a video of Kipper.
14,000 VIEWS. 1,700 INTERACTIONS, lots of LIKES, COMMENTS & SHARES....and still no adoption enquiries. How is this possible? 😩

This is THE big problem for big dogs.

Puppies and small fluffs get lots of interest.

Big dogs get scrolled past.

Big dogs get ignored.

We understand that people worry about "strength", size, insurance, veterinary bills, food costs etc for large dogs... when all Kipper did was grow big with the biggest, softest heart.

We never give up...

Last week Kipper had a meet and greet booked. They didn’t show.

Last month he had a wonderful meet and greet with another family and their dog. They chose a dog from a different local rescue (as let's face it, all rescues are bursting with amazing dogs to choose from).

In the meantime, Kipper has watched his neighbouring kennel companions who are small dogs, leave for their forever homes. Again and again...

But this is Kipper:
He’s not aggressive. Not one bad bone in his body. No bite history. He keeps a clean kennel. He’s house trained.

He LOVES people. Is fine with other dogs. He's friendly, goofy, clever, obedient.

He’s obsessed with his ball and playing fetch.
He’s a big, gentle giant who lives to be told "good boy" and "fetch".

His only challenge? He’s STRONG on the lead.
That’s why he needs an experienced owner who can CONTINUE the lead training we have put in place.

Kipper needs:
An experienced dog owner who understands big, strong breeds.

Someone with time and knowledge to continue his training.

Someone who sees past the size and sees the heart.

FROM ABANDONED TO ADORED:
Tigger's Happy Ending 🏡✨

Tigger was bundled in the boot of a car and dumped in the countryside. Scared. Rejected.

He’d spent his life shut inside, and had never worn a lead. Never been on a walk. The outside world was terrifying to him.

We had to go slowly. Gently.

We laid treat trails just to coax him out.

We celebrated every tiny step he took toward the lead.

One paw in front of the other. One new sound, smell and experience at a time.

And today? Today look at him.

TIGGER HAS BEEN ADOPTED and he is absolutely THRIVING with his new family.

He’s living with young children, a cat, and even a flock of resident sheep! He’s meeting local dogs on village walks. Playing with new toys and even sleeping through the night in his crate/safe space.

Under our care Tigger was:

✅ Made to feel safe & loved
✅ Shown patience
✅ Vaccinated
✅ Groomed
✅ Taught how to play
✅ Desensitised to car journeys
✅ Microchipped
✅ Neutered
✅ Taught that a lead means adventure
✅ Shown that the world can be kind

And the best part? Through all the fear and uncertainty, Tigger never lost his gentle, loving heart. He’s still the same boy full of soft kisses.

From being shut away and dumped, to being loved, walked, and part of a family...

OUR TINY FIGHTER, COPPER 💛
Sometimes, the smallest puppies have the biggest battles...

As promised, here is a more detailed update on Coppers condition, care and prognosis so far.

When we first noticed little Copper bringing her food back up after every meal, we knew something wasn't right. While her brothers and sisters were growing and playing, Copper was quieter, weaker and simply wasn't thriving.

Our beautiful little girl was admitted to the vets, where she has spent days receiving around-the-clock care.

The veterinary team have left no stone unturned. Copper has had blood tests, x-rays, ultrasound scans and specialist investigations to try and discover why such a tiny puppy couldn't keep her food down. She has needed intravenous fluids, medication, potassium supplements and constant nursing just to keep her stable.

The vets were concerned that Copper may have been born with a condition affecting her oesophagus (the tube that carries food to her stomach). They also investigated whether a liver condition or another illness could be responsible for her symptoms.

Thankfully, amongst all the worry, we finally had some good news.

Copper tested negative for parvovirus, her specialised liver tests came back normal, and her abdominal ultrasound didn't reveal any obvious abnormalities. Although we still don't have a definite diagnosis, these results have ruled out several of the conditions the vets were most concerned about.

At this stage, the vets believe the most likely cause is a congenital (born with) problem affecting her oesophagus. One possibility is that a blood vessel has developed in the wrong place and is pressing on it, making it difficult for food to reach her stomach properly. Confirming this would require advanced scans under a general anaesthetic, but right now Copper is simply too tiny and too fragile. The priority is helping her grow stronger before those investigations can safely take place.

And then... we got the news we'd been desperately hoping for.

Copper started keeping her food down.

She became brighter.

She found her voice again.

She started acting like a puppy.

They're only little steps, but for Copper they're enormous milestones, and we're celebrating every single one.

She still has a long journey ahead. She'll remain on medication, have frequent small feeds of her specialist diet, be monitored incredibly closely and, when she's strong enough, the vets will decide whether she needs referral for advanced imaging or surgery.

Just as soul lifting is that the desperately sick puppy is out of hospital, had a check up & escaped euthanising.

We will do a proper update soon on Copper and thank you for all your support.

We apologise that this is short & not up to our normal standards but our focus is on looking after Copper & the other puppies along with the dogs in our care & of course the search for Luna

Everyone at M> has pulled together & we could not be prouder of our amazing team. Together we have achieved so much this past 10 months but throughout it all we have never stopped being there for our community.

ICE LOLLY SEASON IS STILL GOING STRONG

Here’s lovely boy Melon enjoying his ice lolly!

He takes it straight to his bed to enjoy it properly 😂 Keeping him cool, hydrated and entertained in-between walkies, cuddles and summer snooooozing.

TOP TIP FOR THE WARM WEATHER:
We’ve got cool wet towels on the floor in the kennels for the dogs to lie on if they want to cool down. Did you know dogs cool down via their paws?

Laying a damp, cool towel on the floor - especially on hard, cool surfaces like tile or wood - gives your dog a refreshing spot to rest. They naturally cool their bodies from the bottom up by pressing their bellies and paws against cooler surfaces.

Just remember to re-wet them regularly with COOL, not ice-cold tap water as they dry out quickly in warm rooms.

If Melon wants to sunbathe, he can do that on top of the towels, or he can keep cool in his shaded bed area. ☀️🧊🐾💙

Melon is a large, neutered, 3yr old male.
He’s very bouncy and strong so would need a home with older children. He loves to play and is such a friendly boy. All he wants is someone to share play time, walkies and lots of love.

🚨 U P D A T E // Copper's Emergency Appeal

If you’re following little Copper’s story, he was driven last night to the OOH veterinary hospital & continued to receive fluid therapy and more tests were due to be undertaken.

Yesterday at his vets he was well looked after and underwent several tests to try and get to the bottom of what’s making him unwell.

Thankfully parvo was ruled out quickly. Parvo is horrible disease that typically affects puppies of 6 weeks onwards. The outcome for a puppy like Copper is not great ! Fortunately, thank goodness, this is not something we have to worry about.

Yesterday he underwent x-rays, scans, blood tests & more. He received fluids, antibiotics and pain relief.

Both we and the vets are doing everything we can to give this gorgeous pup the very life he deserves !

Everyone knows just how expensive vet treatment is and Copper last night was driven to Telford to the overnight hospital. As a rescue we cannot get pet insurance to help us pay for unexpected, emergency treatments which is why we are appealing for help to pay towards Copper’s medical costs.

The cost for his treatment yesterday ended up being £1044.48 & we are anticipating his emergency overnight treatment costs to be around £2200 (estimate provided).

🚨EMERGENCY APPEAL🚨

You may remember that we recently helped search, locate & safety capture a number of German Spitz dogs that had been cruelly dumped and left to fend for themselves.

These poor babies were starving and some were incredibly aggressive, lunging and one bit Lauren so severely she needed ongoing hospital attention for a couple of weeks. These little, beautiful dogs were terrified.

Since our last update, a major operation by the Police, Dog Warden and RSPCA has been ongoing and a further 20 or so dogs were removed from this horrific puppy breeding situation.

You may also recall that one of the vulnerable dogs we safely captured was pregnant. Thin, severely undernourished, and deeply traumatised by the events, she was understandably aggressive and wouldn't let us near her for days and days.

Unexpectedly, she gave birth to six puppies.

But this miracle has quickly turned to tragedy. One of the puppies sadly died. Her body was just too weak most likely, from the neglect & most likely malnourishment combined with the added trauma her mum had suffered from being dumped

We were heartbroken to lose one puppy, BUT, now , a second puppy is fighting for its life under emergency hospitalisation at the vets. 😭

The current veterinary bill is estimated to be between £600 and £1,000. Although this may increase if the puppy needs specialist care.

As a rescue already stretched to the limit by this massive influx of dogs, we are asking for help to fund their care and this latest emergency vet treatment.
