Back in October 2024, a kind local resident spotted a wary mum cat outside her window, keeping a careful eye on her four tiny kittens. That mum was Dazey, and that moment marked the start of a 13-month mission to help her.
Since then, we successfully trapped two of Dazey’s litters, all of whom are now living their very best lives thanks to ARV. Dazey herself, however, remained elusive, always just one step ahead of us.
Along the way, while trying to catch her, we also managed to help four other stray cats, plus another litter of kittens, all of whom were trapped, neutered, microchipped, and treated, and given the chance of a brighter future.
Catching Dazey truly became a community effort. It involved knocking on doors, making new
friends and working closely with so many lovely residents along Valley Lane and Trent Valley Road,
as well as the eagle-eyed neighbours in the nearby flats. Everyone was rooting for her, even if she had no idea.
Then, on a dark night in October 2025, it finally happened… we got her! When the message went
into the group chat, we’re sure a cheer echoed all the way down Valley Lane and Trent Valley.
Dazey is now back where she belongs on Valley Lane, but this time she’s safe, treated and free from the endless cycle of pregnancy. And now, whenever someone spots her quietly slipping past,
there’s comfort in knowing her life is a little easier - because people cared.
