XL BULLIES

Obviously it's a very scary time not knowing yet exactly what's going to happen with the ban, but there are things you can do right now that will massively help!

Get your dog neutered - this will be compulsory when the ban comes into effect, so do it now, while you have control over where/how it's done!

Muzzle training - again, start now so it's not a huge shock to your dog when they're expected to wear one.

I will make a video demonstrating muzzle training, and I'm happy to talk anything through with any worried bully owners & will of course help wherever I can 👍

Training!! Prove that your dog is well versed in basic obedience & socialisation - again, happy to talk through any concerns 🙂

This big lad was a bit of a puller, which was making for some pretty stressful walks for his owner...
Two sessions in, lots of homework practice between sessions from his owner, using only R+ methods, and look at this beautiful loose lead walking - even with another dog added in for extra distraction! 😃

Fear & pain have NO place in dog training & behaviour modification!

The Government has laid legislation which will completely ban the use of remote controlled electric shock collars in England, as of 1 February 2024,

This is where you give the dog space... Not where you pile in and try to pet the dog, while telling it you're friendly.

Be your dog's advocate.

And if someone says, "sorry we need space/no you can't fuss him right now" don't take offense and start grumbling unpleasantness 🙄

It's not personal. It's about the dog. Not you 😉

Another ball-play option that doesn't include mad repetitive throwing! 😃
"Find it" is also a really useful game that provides positive distraction in lots of situations 👍 More info on that later!

This chap is a bit of a nervous boy on occasion - he is especially scared of farm machinery! On our outing today - ALL THE FARM MACHINERY 😬 So a great opportunity for some counter-conditioning & desensitising 👍 We started at a distance that young man felt comfortable with - which was quite a distance as you can see! It was a successful session where we finished up (comfortably) much closer, but sadly at that point my hands were a bit full for more pics/video...
I will put a video together at some point that demonstrates the process 😊

While a ball-drive can be very useful, repetitive "fetch" can cause a lot of wear & tear, and even injuries, not to mention how much it can "ramp up" high energy dogs.
There are lots of alternative, fun ways to use a ball - as demonstrated by Aero 🥰
